Also, supposedly waiting for others to actually return phone calls or emails asking if they'll look into repairing it. Typical RV industry behavior, in other words: "we're waiting on xxx to reply/approve/send parts".Re: Getting Frustrated with Good Sam/NG InsuranceBetween-holiday update: GS/NG has found a willing party to look at repairing the RV and will be sending transport to pick it up. GS/NG will be reimbursing us for storage and winterization fees paid to date. Thanks to Mr. Williams for keeping things moving forward.Re: Getting Frustrated with Good Sam/NG InsuranceJust a quick update. I've had a couple of people higher up at NG step up to the plate and help shepherd the process along as well as give me better explanations as to what is causing the process to seemingly drag along. With the holiday week, I recognize that not much may happen until next week, but feel confident I'll have some more solid answers at that point.Re: Getting Frustrated with Good Sam/NG Insurance AmericalVette wrote: Wow! Please let us know how it works out. I have the same insurance, hope I never ever need it but if I do it is things like this that make me worry. Did you fax them a copy of the police report, etc? Good Luck & Best Wishes I gave them the police report number from the accident scene. I would presume that they would take it upon themselves to get their own copy. When I call, they aren't indicating that they are waiting on the report.Re: Getting Frustrated with Good Sam/NG Insurance Good Sam Care Team wrote: Good Evening 2Talleys, I would like to escalate your post to one of our executives to investigate and follow up with you. Can you send a private message with your contact information and the name of the claim rep you have been working with so I can include that with my report. Thank you...Rudy, Good Sam Response team. Thanks. I'll send you a PM now.Getting Frustrated with Good Sam/NG InsuranceWe've had Good Sam/NG insurance on our RV since we our first RV purchase in September, 2012. We've never had to make a claim before now and have generally been pleased with customer service when needed. Our rates have been all over the board, but not out of line with other options. On September 29, 2015, we were involved in an accident which totalled our pickup truck (insured through another carrier). During the accident, our fifth wheel hitch broke loose and our trailer slammed into the back of our truck, bending the trailer's drop frames along with expected damage to the front compartment fiberglass, door, etc. The interior and all trailer systems were fine, so we had the trailer towed to a nearby campground so we could live in it while we settled things. We started claims with both our truck's insurance carrier and Good Sam/NG the evening of the accident. Because we were en route to a family function when the accident occurred, we indicated to GS/NG that we would work on getting the trailer looked at a week later after we got back from that trip. When we returned and contacted the assigned claims rep, we found that there were no GS/NG adjusters within a couple hundred miles of our location (Evansville, IN). Also, they didn't list anyone nearby on their list of approved contracted adjusters. They asked if I would find someone local, which I did. The local adjusters, from an RV dealer a couple miles away, came to take pictures and look the unit over. They left and turned in all their findings a couple days later (approximately Oct. 9). When I talked to them later, they agreed that the frame was bent and that their shop could not work on it. They even talked with our trailer's manufacturer and Lippert (the frame manufacturer) and both indicated that there was no way they would work on it. I've called my claims rep approximately once a week since then (now at 45 days since the adjuster's turned in their findings to GS/NG). Each time I call, my claims rep is courteous and apologetic that things are taking so long. I'm getting concerned that this might drag one for a long time. I plan to call tomorrow and see if any progress has been made, but I have my doubts. If someone from Good Sam would like to discuss, let me know. I'll advise on tomorrow's call.Re: Westward trip tomorrowNo advice on where to go and what to see, but found it rather coincidental that we, too, are leaving tomorrow (from Nashville) on a month-long trip out west as well. We're taking a little different route, ourselves, since we are visiting family in north Texas and friends in Colorado on the way out. Have a safe trip!Re: From Charlotte to Boone, NCWe stayed in Honey Bear last year. Not sure if they are done with construction on US321 now or not, but if steep winding roads give you the willies (they give my wife the same), you definitely want to use the US421 route (it is straighter and 4 lanes all the way into the area). Watch the switchback curve on the road (Poplar Grove Rd S) heading back to the campground. We had to swing our dually and 40' fiver all the way over into the opposing lane to make it and found a truck and trailer coming from the other direction (it's a somewhat blind curve). Fortunately, they were ready and stopped so we could finish swinging around it.
