- esyersExplorerGee, was that you waving at me as I traveled back to NJ on that route today? ;)
- highwaygExplorerTravelling in 5th wheel. Sorry for late response. We took the advice here and did the GSP, tappen zee way. Thank you so much!
- alfredmayExplorerThe GSP is a summer shore road that fills with north bound traffic on Sunday during the summer. If you leave on Sunday, I suggest you leave first thing in the morning.
This is the most direct route (GSP to I-287 in NY). Some of the older bridges on the GSP have low clearances on the right lane due to road widening years ago. These are arched bridges, so just avoid the far right lane. esyers wrote:
Garden State Parkway all the way North to the New York Thruway (I-287) and over the Tappan Zee Bridge. After that, depending on where you're going in CT. I just used I-684 to I-84 to I-691 then CT-66 and CT-9 to pick up 95 at East Lyme. RV's and trailers ARE permitted on the GSP.
I don't think there is any way to avoid some construction.
