- HorsedocExplorer IIThe rest area just south of Forsyth on 75 South is setup to accommodate RVers who want to overnite there. No trucks allowed in that section of the rest area
- Romer1ExplorerWas thinking along lines of Walmart, don't need any hookups, and will probably be time to give them some of our money:)
- rwessExplorerCheck out High Falls State Park. It is between Atlanta and Forsyth. It is just off the Interstate. There is a KOA in Forsyth.
- Romer1ExplorerThanks all. Will probably go I20 - I75 - to I16.
Planning on overnighting around Locust Grove or Forsyth. - Bird_FreakExplorer II

Robsouth is correct. If you do Camp Creek PKY be prepared for red lights.
I'm sorry, but I go from Birmingham to south of Atlanta a lot (today, in fact) at about 4:00 PM and I always go I-20W to I-75S to I-16E and it ain't never a problem unless someone has a bad wreck and that can happen anywhere. All the other suggestions work, they just ain't needed. Atlanta traffic ain't that bad unless you are a "hurry hurry person that's gotta change lanes every 1/2 mile". - robsouthExplorer III'm sorry, but I go from Birmingham to south of Atlanta a lot (today, in fact) at about 4:00 PM and I always go I-20W to I-75S to I-16E and it ain't never a problem unless someone has a bad wreck and that can happen anywhere. - rwessExplorerGetting off on Camp Creek Parkway is shorter and less traffic. Here is another idea for you, one that I have recently found and tried. Get off at the Ga. Hwy 5 exit in Douglasville and go south to Ga. 166. Go all the way around the roundabout and get on Ga. 166 East. Go about 1/4 mile and turn right onto Caps Ferry Road. This is a very good road, very little traffic. After Caps Ferry crosses the Chattahoochie it turns into South Fulton Parkway. Very little traffic, it turns into a 4 lane 65 mph hwy., and then turns into a restricted access (IE interstate). It then hits I-285 at exactly where I-85 hits I-285. Then take I-285 over to I-75 S.

Before you come into Atlanta get off I-20 at Thornton Rd./Camp Creek Parkway. Go right (south). This will take you to the Southern end of I-285. Then take I-285 around to I-75 South.
Thanks, will look at that. Is it shorter/less traffic? - Romer1Explorer

You know that GA-407 is I-285 right? And yes I-75 and I-85 will be running together where I-20 joins. 5 miles south I-85 splits off to the right, Left lanes go south on I-75. Get fuel in Macon, I-16 doesn't have a lot of choices. Dublin and Metter have the best choices of food and fuel in the middle.
Thought they were the same, but my maps showed it as 407. Planning on overnighting around Locust Grove/Forsyth before going on to Savannah.
Thanks for info. - rwessExplorerBefore you come into Atlanta get off I-20 at Thornton Rd./Camp Creek Parkway. Go right (south). This will take you to the Southern end of I-285. Then take I-285 around to I-75 South.
