There may be reasons for having a phone in Mexico. We rarely need one. Calling an RV park could be a reason. Calling a restaurant for reservations? Going somewhere for evening entertainment? There are emergency numbers to call in Mexico. On the road the Green Angels are worth knowing about. Seems to me there are some other emergency numbers to know - I was thinking there is an 076 on cuotas but now not sure - Angeles Verdes is 078 I think. There are other numbers. We usually get our phone and internet service set up at the Telcel office in Guaymas near San Carlos - make sure you completely understand how their system works as it is very different from the US.
