San Juan Teotihuacan is in the Estado de Mexico

The website and the map both show Teotihuacan outside the zone - but to be safe if you think it is in the zone you might be able to contact them to ask - or trust that Mina knows.

It might be a good idea to take a taxi into Mexico City but if you are just going to Mina's it is pretty easy if you GPS the correct route. Mina can also be a huge help.

I was serious in my response of the taxi. We were overnighted in Texcoco. A taxi new the route into town to the hotel and from the center of town to the highway out.

I would have a sitio provide two taxis who know the route to avoid "hoy no circula", one in front and one in back. Fines are over 2100 pesos for cars in the Estado de Mexico. Can't imagine what they'd charge an rv.

San Juan Teotihuacan is in the Estado de Mexico, and the hoy no circula applies, best bet is to contact the Tourist Department and get a pass for the caravan.

When we visited Mina years ago she took us out in her car to show us the route through Otumba to Arco Norte which was not yet completed to 132D at that time. She also very carefully explained to us how to get to the 5D going north - which we missed and found ourselves in Mexico city - the interchange is a bit confusing - but again this goes through Ecatepec which you can't do if it is Hoy no Circula. Here are some maps. Work with Mina - she knows. The map into the ruins will put you right in front of the Pyramid of the Sun and is just under 2 miles from Mina's. If you go through Otumba you have to know exactly where to turn or you will be in a town with extremely narrow streets (don't ask how I know).

Hire a taxi :)

Here are some more map ideas of the area around Teotihuacan. This might clarify some route ideas. Coming from the north the 5D to 85D to 12D could restrict travel on Hoy no Circula days as mentioned before. From Arco Norte which is 40D you can come down 132D. A close up map shows the route we take into Teotihucan Trailer Park to avoid going through town. There are a couple of confusing turns and jig jogs so care must be taken not to make a wrong turn. Mapping the route on GPS should show the exact turns. Hope this helps. There are other ways to do this but back roads are involved so I show the easiest routes.

Contact Mina . . . 594-956-0313 teotipark@prodigy.net.mx . . . who owns the place and talk with her. She knows the area better than anyone. She speaks English very well. She knows the roads and the rules.

Mina can also tell you how to get in and out of Mexico City. You can leave your rig there while you go into the big city. You can go by bus and subway from Teotihuacan or Mina may be able to hook you up with a guide who will take you into the city. Stay in the city at a hotel for a few days while your rig rests at Mina's.

The trick to getting to Teotihuacan is the route you take. Teotihuacan is not in the Hoy No Circula but some areas you pass through could be. The safe way is taking the Arco Norte to 132D. It can depend on where you are coming from.

The official name of the municipio is Teotihuacán de Arista and it doesn't appear in the list.

I'll be flying to D.F. this afternoon for a couple of days. Even the chilangos hate the process.
