- WhalerExplorerNorthern Indiana RVers going south can avoid I65 by picking up the new I69. The new I69 starts at 231&58 junction. The only slowdown for now is going through Henderson KY but that serves as a good rest stop. Much less traffic to Nashville. I69 will be connected to four lane Hyw 37 at Bloomington next year making it possible to avoid 2 lane roads now used to get to I69 from Bloomington. Take the parkway from Henderson to I24 to Nashville.
- Jim_ShoeExplorerThis time of year, everybody is headed south for the winter. I-95 is crowded. I-65 is crowded. And I-75 goes thru Atlanta. And the road repair season is short. Pick your poison, but I will NEVER drive thru Atlanta again in snowbird season. I've actually considered buying a mannequin to ride shotgun so I can drive in the HOV lanes.
I'm planning a trip from Cincinnati, OH to Venice, FL to visit friends via I-65S to Pensacola, then I-10E to I-75S , but I'm going south in the spring. The traffic will be headed north. Everything in Florida has A/C, including my RV. - Movin__onExplorerThanks for all the help. Will make traveling easier.

Easy, pick up I-74 to Cinci and then I-75 south.
How do I avoid that mess coming from Southwest Michigan?
I will be going south to Florida next week.
I usually take US31 to Indianapolis and then 65 south.
Can someone suggest any thing different.?
Any suggestion would be appreciate. - dutchwindExplorerHow do I avoid that mess coming from Southwest Michigan?

Probably since you were down there last, they closed one lane of I-65, both directions, just north of the Kennedy bridge all the way to the bridge for road work pertaining to the new bridge. This will last for 2 years. They call it the BIG squizze.
If you are coming from Ohio you can take 70 to New Castle and then take 3 South & get on 65 at Scottsburg. We have done this a couple times this summer and it is not a bad drive and avoids all the construction on 65. - camperforlifeExplorerIf you are coming from Ohio you can take 70 to New Castle and then take 3 South & get on 65 at Scottsburg. - john_betExplorer IIStill a mess around Columbus too. The I-65/I-465 junction in Indy is being reworked also. Then there is also the great chance of a major wreak on I-65 anytime shutting it down completely. It happens way more than it should in my opinion. I live 6 miles east of Seymour on US-50.
- 2-MTnestersExplorerThat would probably be your best route. There is a little construction on I71 as well but they usually keep the traffic moving fairly well. The construction is from about the 40 mile marker south to around the 28 mile marker New Castle Pendleton exit. The up side of this is the road is MUCH smoother than it has been in years. A good app for you to add to your phone or tablet is "WAZE". Its a free app and gives real time traffic reports and lets you know if there is any accidents or even where the troopers are siting. All reported by other travelers with the same app. Happy travels and have a safe trip south. Tim
- Movin__onExplorerThanks Tim,
We usually go straight down I 65 to Florida, but I guess we will go through Cincinnati on I 75 and take 1 71 over to I 65. I 65 was a mess when we went through there last month.
