Any RV parks near Brooklyn?

If you pick Roundout you will be north of the city by a few hours - Hudson Valley region. Great area if you want to stay and see some upstate sights. Especially if you have a small car stop by the Walkway Over The Hudson and take a walk over the longest pedestrian bridge. It crosses the Hudson River and has great views of the river. Then take a boat ride on the river.

I agree, we picked the weekend for our arrival and left just after morning rush hour, traffic was very manageable...worked out well.

For those on a budget who can dry camp, Liberty Harbor has some no-hookup sites (kind of an overflow area) on the other side of the park (away from the office). We were in the W/E section last August, but one evening we walked to the no-hookup section and talked to a nice family. They told us it was $50 a night, not bad for being so close to the PATH subway that takes you right into NYC.

Yes, Liberty Harbor is basically a parking lot, but we'd stay there again, perhaps in the no-hookup section. My wife had been to NYC before, but it was my first time and we really had a good time!

As far as traffic is concerned it wasn't to bad, that said we relied heavily on our phone GPS to get us to & from the highway to the campground.

Campground is 5 blocks to NJ path rail which takes you into NYC

Only way to get there is to drive through town in Brooklyn. Trust me, you don't want to drive through Brooklyn in an RV. It would be a long bumpy, narrow street traveled adventure. Low Bridges on the Belt Parkway so that is out.

Only place close to Brooklyn is Liberty Harbor unless you what to travel to Westchester (Croton Point) or Long Island (Battle Row). Both have convenient travel by train to Manhattan (60 minutes). But its at least an additional 45-60 minute travel to Brooklyn. Nothing else in North New Jersey either.

I've read about Floyd Bennett Field, but never saw a review or report from anyone that camped there in a RV, perhaps because driving a RV through Brooklyn streets to get there would be a challenge. If you Google around, you can find some tent camper experiences, or maybe something more recent. I'm guessing that the lack of info about RV camping there indicates it's not the best option, but that's just a guess based on a few minutes research when I was contemplating a NYC trip.
