- 4runnerguyExplorerBeen by but never camped there. Three NFS CG's there. I'd pick Blue Lake or Bear Lake over Puratoire CG. All up gravel roads four miles or so off paved CO 12. IIRC, there is a private RV park in LaVeta.
Another option is to camp in the Wet Mountains and and day trip. Several NFS CG's around Lake Isabel. Lakeview CG there has electric hookups. Nearby private Aspen Acres CG has FHU. - HeisenbergExplorerTrinidad Lake State Park.
- IDmanExplorerGrape Creek RV park in Westcliffe is supposed to be nice. The last time I drove by Aspen Acres it looked like a dump.
- gwalterExplorer IIILathrop State Park near Walsenburg.
- TyroneandGladysExplorerDepends on what you want
Trinidad State Park has some full hookup site but you are in the foothills 6,000 foot elevation Click
Monument Lake full hookups and at 8,000 feet elevation Click
Blue Lake no hookups and at 10,500 feet elevation Click
If you do not need hookups then Blue Lake is where you need to go.
If you are hikers you can do a day hike up West Spanish Peak - tmm2goodExplorerGood suggestions above, so I will just add a picture of my favorite camping spot next to the Spanish Peaks
- ekirklandExplorerThanks for the recommendations. I reserved a site at Blue Lake. Ready to fish.
