- rr2254545ExplorerVery nice if you can get in the Ocean Front loop - the area on the other side of the highway not so much unless you can get one of the few sites on the bay.
It is really quite south of town - darsbenExplorer IIWe usually camp on the beach at Crystal Beach. Galveston county allows dry beach camping for $10.00 PER YEAR> every 10 days or so we go to Sand Dollar RV resort for a day and do laundry, dump, refill. Nice bar restaurant across the street. FREE ferry ride to Galveston (BIG FERRY) while we watch dolphins etc.
Pretty good shelling on beach

I do take my 27 foot Class a on the beach without problem. Sand is a very hard pack - any_rd_but_mainExplorerspent a week at Dellanera rv park on the island ,it is at the west end where the sea wall ends. you are right on the beach paved sites and roads small store and is very close to the city. check it out.
- wbrown62ExplorerDellenera is nice. Right on the beach at the west end of the seawall. Sandpiper is very nice and a bit pricey. Right on the east end of the seawall. There is a park on Offats Bayou in town. Don't remember the name. It has some fulltimers in it. Decent but nothing special. Galveston Island State Park about 6 miles out. Haven't been there since the hurricane and then Jamaica Beach RV park just past GISP. Have never been but heard its nice. That's about it for the immediate Galveston area

We stayed at Dellanera back in October and would recommend it. Close to the beach...easy back into town and very nice people to deal with. - Sooner_SchoonerExplorerWe are now at Sandpiper RV Resort and this is our second time. Right on Seawall Blvd, close to shopping and restaurants.
- chris3403ExplorerThey are currently rebuilding the beaches in Galveston. Lots of noise if on the water.
- BumpyroadExplorerwe used to stay at dellanera but it was way too windy. started staying on the other side of the island, at a park just to the right as you cross the causeway. can wade , etc. in comfort. dish does not blow over. nice restaurant adjacent.
bumpy - kiwidancerExplorerWe prefer the state park. Although it is much reduced in size since the hurricane, it has covered picnic shelters and decent space between sites. The beach is much less crowded than any closer to town.
