- s_N_sExplorerI would have to say NO. There are parks in Central FL where we are located that may have a price like that but I wouldn't consider them any type of top notch resort park. If you like being packed in like sardines that is what you'll find for that price. Not my cup of tea thank you.

Sometimes I'm amazed at posts regarding site prices and looking for places to sleep for free on the cheap. It seems some have no problem buying TV's that cost $40 - 60+K and RV's that cost anywhere between $30 -100+K and then are looking for places to stay on the cheap. Not a criticism; just an observation. Justify all you want; the observation is supported by the posts on this site. Makes you scratch your head. Camp on!
+ a whole bunch!!!!

We just spent our first ever 2 months in Southern Florida. We are not impressed. The daily frustrations are too great and definitely not worth the price. Highly doubt we will be in any hurry to be back.
That's O.K.
Florida is not for everyone.
By the way we were not too impressed with South Dakota, when we were there, either.
That's O.K. too.
To each his own, and thankfully there is a lot of variety in this great country.
How right you are about judging a whole state by a few bad experiences, check what you wrote above :)
We'll try the Tampa and Orlando area sometime in the distant future. Maybe in about 4 years. Need a break for awhile.
Understood. Please visit some Florida State parks also. As a life long resident of Florida, I have to tell you , I not crazy about Tampa or Orlando either, when it comes to experiencing what the state has to offer. Way too urban. You can get that experience in any large city in the country. Orlando if you must, to visit the mouse.
P.S. I wrote those comments before you revealed the limited extent of your visit. IMHO not the best parts of Florida either!.
Happy camping. - StephJohn2010Explorer

Hi. Would you mind elaborating a bit on your post? Where in south FL did you stay, and what sort of frustrations are you referring to? Thanks.
Sure. Venice and Miami. I suppose my top three would be dangerous drivers, bad road infrastructure, and general none friendliness of 85% of the people. No big deal, thats why we explore... to find places we like and realize the places we don't like. We got wheels as they say :)
I have to say that judging the whole state of Florida by what you encountered in Miami, is like judging the whole state of Michigan based ona bad part of Detroit.
If these spots were the two main parts of Florida you visited, you never saw the "real Florida." Sorry you had a bad experience. - rockhillmanorExplorer IIMiami is like driving thru the South Side of Chicago in some areas. In Miami just one wrong turn and go around the block and you'll find yourself where you ought not be. At least the South side of Chicago it IS one designated area, easy to stay out of.
West Memphis, sure Elvis Presley's house is around there but I sure found out REAL quick it wasn't the place for me to be driving the RV in or anything else for that matter down those streets.
I have been on the road 7 years now and YES each state, each city has an area one should not be in RV'ing or camping. Just a fact of life. Talking to your fellow campers while at the CG about where you will be heading next is what I found to be the best way to avoid the bad places!
I have stumbled across quite a few in my travels. Wasn't funny when I was in the mix of it but fast forward and they make for great around the campfire stories. :W - sher9570Explorer

The guy asked a simple question, "can a good RV/Resort park in Florida beat $1,950 (minus electric??" and it turns into a Texas bashing session. I hope he gets an answer to his question instead of all the "Mine is better than yours" comments.
If money is the ONLY criteria for picking a winter park, Texas would win as there are more parks in Texas that is in the price range. There are some in Florida, just not as many. They are harder to find.
We choose a winter spot based upon overall value, not price.
The OP sounds very happy with Texas, and that is good.
We are very happy with Florida.
To each his own.
Ditto, I wouldn't leave Cortez Florida for anything Texas may have to offer...except maybe a bigger better T-bone, only kidding.
To each their own but we are happy here and are not leaving.

While I have often shared my list of "good" RV parks in the Fort Myers area, there are three that never make my list. One of them shows only pictures of the areas (beach, etc.) OUTSIDE the park itself, another is little more than a few sites in the woods, and the third is a slum IMO, however, one frequent poster who winters there likes it -- although he talks mostly about the county amenities that keep him occupied OUTSIDE of his park. So -- for you boston blackie, here are three you can explore: (Renters and buyers beware!) Fox Mobile Home & RV Park in North Fort, Myers, Calusa Cove, Estero, FL, and McGregor Park in Fort Myers.
