- NoelExplorerWe stayed at the Orange Grove in June 2014. Not crowded. Large spaces. OK...
- stevekkExplorerWe are spending 2 nites here at the Bakersfield RV resort thanks to you all.
41 dollars a nite w/ good sam.
Nice new park.
NO picnic tables at each site, which was a negative to me.
RV parking was on compacted sand. Wish it was concrete. Tracking sand all over.
Heated pool. Kinda windy, so did not try pool out. Looks nice.
Today is xmas day, so restaurant and front desk are closed.
Costco real close by, so easy to gas up and shop. - aerbus32Explorer IIAll good information. I'll add that Bakersfield has a number of good parks, but they are closer to 99. I'm going to add a few things for the benefit of others that might be reading. We usually stay at Bakersfield RV because the restaurant on site is quite good. Orange Grove RV is east on 58. We usually are going over Tehachapi so if a meal in the RV is preferred, we'll stay there. River Run RV has a Stuart Andrson's close enough to walk. Sometimes that's what we do, but they do have some side by side hookups, which I avoid. If going to BRV from the north, you will be making a right turn as part of the off ramp, then another right thru the light, than an immediate left. Lots of traffic lanes involved. Be aware of that and just take your time and look at the signs on the road. Coming from the south, I would use the same off ramp as coming the north. I would not try to make the left into the park. Gas. The Costco gas station on Panama is rarely busy. When heading south, we fill up at Costco Woodland also. Another atypically uncrowded station.
- lanerdExplorer IIOk, an easy way of getting to the Bakersfield RV Resort coming south on I-5 is to take the 246 exit and go east (left). Immediately after you go over the overpass, take a right on Panama Lane. It's a two lane road, but easily drivable with an rv. Go into town (about 5 miles or so) and turn left on the last light, right before you see the hwy 99 freeway...that will be Wible Road. Turn left and he resort is just down the street on your left.
A word to the wise...when making the left turn onto Wible Road, get in the right left turn lane (there are two left turn lanes off of Panama) and then once on Wible road, get into the left lane.
Also, if you need gas (I'm assuming your Class C is gas), there is a Costco on Panama Lane before you get to Wible road. Easy in and out.
Speaking of In-n-Out, there is one on Panama just over the Hwy 99 overpass.
When leaving, just get on 99 south and it will take you right back to I-5.
Ron - stevekkExplorerThanks everybody.
We are heading south on I5.
Think we will try out the Bakersfield RV resort.
will check out other places too.
Thanks as always for the great help.
Out first trip to LA area. Going with a group to the Rose Parade. - the_bear_IIExplorerAlong the I-5 corridor around Bakersfield, these are the two I would choose. First one is about 30 miles north of Bakersfield.
The second one is further north from Bakersfield but a perfect overnight stop on the way to or out of Los Angeles area. It's the best choice of the two.

OK not exactly off I5 but you did mention Bakersfield.
Anyway it is a nice place. Even the restaurant serves good food. - 2oldmanExplorer IITule Elk reserve.
- rreynold51ExplorerCW allowed us to stay across the street in their lot overnight for no charge...we even had power available!! For just an overnight it was great. We were coming in from the east (Barstow).
- TOOBOLDExplorerPremier Resort off I5... No. There is a Kern County Park with full hook ups off the I5/119 exit. It is called Buena Vista Lake and the rates are $25 night. Gate hours are until 8pm this time of year. Easy in and out. You should have the place to yourself this time of year.
Fuel up at the I5/Hwy 58 junction, otherwise, any station around the 119 is a rip off!
