- jnharleyExplorerWe just installed the B&W Companion Hitch in our 2015 Dodge dually with the puck system. All did not go as easily as we would have wanted. The hitch base was out of square and would not sit level in the pucks even after the maximum adjustments were made. New base was sent and arrived with deep scratches all the way to the metal. Base three arrived and all was well. We are on our first trip and love how the hitch works. Even though we had difficulties, we are happy with the operation. We did not have any issues getting the base replaced. It was just time consuming.
- Cummins12V98Explorer IIIIMHO the best non air ride hitch on the market!

- PipemanExplorerThanks for all the replies, folks. It looks like he's going to look into purchasing come Monday. Stay safe all.
- GBuildersExplorerI put the 3600 in my new Ram and I Love the B&W. I had the Reese slide hitch in my old truck and it worked but not near as well as the B&W. Much smoother and very few pops and banging while towing.

The upgraded 3500 Companion hitch (rated for 20K trailer weight) base and adapter post used with the Turnoverball gooseneck hitch no longer use the u-bolts and Nyloc nuts, nor does the 3600 Companion used with the Ram OEM 5th wheel hitch prep kit, the subject of the OP's inquiry. I upgraded my Companion to the 3500 for use with the new 5th wheel.

I had an issue with my B&W companion hitch. One of the large nuts on the u-bolts stripped and I could not remove it. I called B&W and talked to customer service. Not only did they over-night a new U-bolt and Nut they sent a complete set of u-bolts and nuts. Now I have an extra. The new ones were sitting on my porch the next day at no charge. THAT is why you buy B&W. Customer service and the supreme reliability of their hitch; and being made in the USA is an added bonus.
That, IMO, is the one weakness of the standard Companion hitches; the Nylock nuts. I'm on my 3rd set in 11 years. FWIW, when I had my first one lock up, I simply grabbed my breaker bar and a cheater and just twisted it off. Called B&W and they had me a new set in about 3 days (weekend). 2nd time, it was the next day since it was middle of the week. Great products and a great company to stand behind them.
