First time I used the TrailerAid was in my driveway doing the brakes. I knew I needed the blocks at that time so I was not with out when I really needed it.

My last RV the trailer aid worked great. However I have too much suspension travel and my axles are too close together on my current rig for the block method to be effective. I now use a bottle jack

I have one and there are 2 things I'm concerned about. First, the width of Trailer-Aid. On my 16" tire, the tire is wider by about 20-25% than the Trailer-Aid and I'm concerned about a steel belt breaking as the good tire will be supporting the entire one side of the RV. Second, this unit does not lift the RV high enough off the ground. Trailer-Aid does make a taller unit (called Trailer-Aid Plus) which I see costs about $55. A good bottle jack costs way less than that and I don't have to worry about possibly damaaging a good tire.

It works well on some trailers, but not all. Some trailers have axles that pivot so that one tire stays on the ground if the other is elevated, thus defeating the purpose. My last TT was like that.

I use a 4X4 with the ends tapered. Just back onto or pull forward, depending on what tire you are changing (front or rear). Works great and if you carry a battery powered impact winch, you can change a tire and be on the road in ten minutes. It's a great safety issue as there is nothing more frightening than trying to jack up a trailer on the side of an interstate with vehicles blasting past you in such close proximity. As for the weight issue, it a NON -ISSUE, as you are not driving down the road hitting bumps and you only have it up for about ten minutes.
