Here's another good way to find out: Kill A Watt



Plug everything into a power strip and then plug the power strip into this device. Then when you switch on the power strip you'll see how much juice it uses at startup. You can experiment with the TV and the receiver separately too, to see if you need to turn them on one-at-a-time.

This little device is really handy. It's great for testing loads for inverters and it's a good way to see how much of a power hog any of your appliances are. It's also good for testing LED fixtures to measure the savings.

Yeah I figure its worth a shot, I looked up my TVs specs and it claims it draws roughly 26 watts and the box draws 10-20 watts. Im not sure how big of a surge either use to start up, only one way to find out, haha.

Try it, might work. I never tried mine with the flat screen, only with the old tube type and it wouldn't work via the cig. lighter. Now with flat screen and located near the battery it works great, will run two flat screens and the sat. box at once.

Ok, I was going to try and get away with using the 12volt plug in my cabinet vs running wires through the floor. I should only need 50-100 watts to run my TV and sat box. Might just have to try it out to see if I get any interference.

Always better to have inverter close to batts and run your 110v where you need it

Do you guys think it would be a problem to mount the inverter right behind the TV in the cabinet?

Exactly what I did, runs TV/DVD or satellite box with NO interference. Had to run the 120 volt side to the TV outlet, then use a plug strip to power up the entertainment.

Are you using a Pure Sine or Modified Sine inverter?

Nope, just a cheap Harbor Freight inverter mounted next to the batteries and wired to an outlet next to the T.V.s.

I was looking for a inverter to run the tv and sat box as well. I found a Go Power 150 watt PSW on ebay for $150. Some say a MSW will work fine and a lot cheeper but I don't want to take a chance on noise.
