13,600 on a 2500 is probably right at the upper limits of payload and rear axle.
That was why we traded up to a 3500 SRW diesel after the first couple of trips with the Titanium (13,800 GVWR) on a 2500 Ram diesel. Just not enough truck to feel comfortable and the scales were telling a sad story on the weights.
By the way, trading to a long bed crew cab, even though it takes a football field to U-turn, made a big difference in long day's comfort on the road.
I agree, you'd be close to your max limit just watch yourself. I think you're going to find out down the road that you'll find yourself "craving" a larger truck because that first RV is going to get "old" and a "new" (bigger) one will be wanted. :) forcing you into a larger truck. Just say'n.
Gotta start someplace tho.......
Dan - Old-BiscuitExplorer III2007 2500 should be looking at a 12K GVWR 5th wheel ..........not a 14K one
I tow a 14K 5v with my 2007 3500 and am right at rear tire max load ratings, close to RAWR and OVER on trucks GVWR (10,100)
That 2500 only has a 9000# GVWR and a 6010# RAWR......12K 5vr will be better match - AllworthExplorer II13,600 on a 2500 is probably right at the upper limits of payload and rear axle.

With those numbers I'd be cautious with that 5er. - boshogExplorer

So, a 16k hitch might be overkill as well?
Not really, a 16K hitch is about where you start to see better quality. Many hitches 15K and below are considered entry level.
There are many good hitches, but the 16K B&W Patriot, is one of the better ones, for the dollars spent. Look at E-trailer, or Tweety's, for info, and good price.

- NorthwestBoundExplorerI drive a big truck for a living so got that covered, and, when i registered the puckup i also splurged for the 24klb plates.
- WyoTravelerExplorerAlso depending on the state you may need a Class A RV license to tow over 10,000 pounds to be totally legal.
- NorthwestBoundExplorerGot it, thanks very much.
Is there an online resource listing trailer weight by make model?
