- mr__edExplorerAs suggested, keeping some water in bowl will help. If water won't stay, you may be able to locate O-ring lube, although in a pinch, Vaseline may be OK, as was also suggested. In the past, I've tried vegetable oil, also, but I think it contributed to a mold growth after a while.
- MrsSargeExplorerWe had a Carriage Cameo for 13 years and when we traded it in the seal was the original seal on the toilet and still functioning fine. I learned to clean the bowl, the seal and the plastic piece that opened and closed when you pushed on the foot pedal, with an old dish brush, 409 and baking soda. Once you have everything clean then I would use Vaseline, a good dab on the tip of my finger, run it around the seal on both sides and it would work for the rest of that camping season. I would have to repeat at the start of the next season.
- LatnerNomadAfter you've cleaned and lubed the seal, fill the bowl with hot water and let it cool, this will reshape the seal to the ball.

I have used vinegar for years to clean the hard water in Az. The black rubber seal would turn to gray and leak down. vinegar made the rubber clean and black and no leak.

That, or CLR, may be something I'll have to try.

I mistakenly read it as "lubing my toilet seat" and wondered why you wanted to sit on something slippery. I pictured you trying to sit down and -whiinnggg- you slide off! :D
The things we learn in college... Saran across the bowl, UNDER the ring, is also a good one. :B

Thanks for the feedback chevman! I'll try this before we have to have it replaced.
I poured the vinegar in the bowl when we planned on being gone for a while. I removed our water relief valve after we were home from the winter because it was dripping and 3 days soaking it was a new look. Used it for years without dripping. 8 gallons of vinegar and 8 gallons of water installed in the fresh tank and pumped though each faucet until it shows and soak for 3 to 4 days. This is just my opion on the result but the pump seems to run better.
