One more tire question?

You are stuck with LRE LT's on those rims or new rims and tires that need more inflation.

Both the XPS Rib and R250 are way over engineered and will serve you fine with your loading. Chris

Sounds like it came with LT tires, so look at the placard for GAWR.

And go buy the Bridgestone Duravis R250 for 50 bucks each less than the XPS Rib and don't look back!!!! Two sizes LT235/85R16E(need at least 33" center to center on the axles) and LT245/75R16E.

It can be a metal tag some where around the axle tubes or steel stamped in the tube. Take a flash light under and look close.

I assume that they are factory, it is a 2004 Newmar Kountry Star 30RKS. The tires are LT, I forget the name and ratings, I will look at the trailer and post them this afternoon.

Anybody know how I can identify the axles?

What axles are under your trailer? What do you currently have for tires? At 15K it seems it may be to heavy for 6K axles. If it does have 6K axles, I would install Bridgestone Duravis R250's or Michelin XPS RIBs and never look back.

If you are going to swap out wheels, don't get more 16"ers. The 17.5" rims and 215/75R17.5 LRH tires rated to 4805 are the way to go. This gives you more tire choices and lots of extra capacity. Goodyears offering is the G114. Here is a link to it.

These tires are JUST slightly less in diameter vs ST235/80R16E's.

I changed out my GY E tires to GY G's with 80psi wheels. Using the weight/inflation chart I ran the tires at 85psi for 5 years with even tread wear.

With anything there is a margin on ratings. I will only run GY G or H tires.

This R500HD has two ply poly carcass, two steel belts and a Nylon overlay.

They do ride a bit stiffer than the Michelin LTX's, as Michelin LTX is noted for a soft sidewall. I think they are going to be great for towing the 5er.
