- goducks10ExplorerFor those that leave them out when not towing if you or someone else breaks the big mirror it's a complete replacement. I cracked the small mirror shortly after getting my Ram. Went to the dealer and got the small mirror. Dealer said I'd have to replace the whole mirror if I'd broke the large mirror. Just saying.
- mike-uswestExplorer III had a friend that bought a Dodge without the flip mirrors. He had a short TT, and while on a trip over by Lakeview, was stopped by a State Cop coming into town. He was escorted to an auto shop for a fixit ticket to get a pair of towing mirrors to attach to his truck.
Mike - cummins2014ExplorerFlipped up for towing ,otherwise down. Ram needs to learn how to design mirrors like the ford mirrors. Having had both ford ,and Ram the ford are by far the better mirrors. IMO the Ram mirrors in the down position are distracting with the little mirror on the side instead of the bottom where its at when we flip up the mirrors . Ram mirrors are much more functional flipped up, but as said they look a bit dorky ruining empty, but to each his own.
- bobsallyhExplorer IIThe first set of tow mirrors I ever had were on our '4 Ford pickup. Camper Special mirrors was what they were called. You had to take a 9/16 wrench to swing them in and out. They were great until. Then bought a '84 Dodge passenger van. Mickey moused the mirrors to tow with, worked OK but. Then Bought a '95 Dodge PU that had the regular mirrors and worked them over. Then got our '03 dually with the tow mirrors. This is when until kicks in, nothing like them. Now we have a long fiver and I want to see the area and vehicles behind me to best of my ability. Any Dodge dealer that orders a 2500 and up Ram that doesn't order the tow mirrors should be de-franchised now! And Ram should make them standard. I had a telephone truck, a 1988 F-450 Ford with a small utility bed on it. It came with the Camper Special mirrors on it and they never were turned in. Do us a favor and more importantly, other motorists, and turn those suckers out when towing!
- Coach-manExplorerI guess I am in the minority. As with a few other posts, I do not notice a big differance up or down! I to tow a 102" wide 5 th wheel, but I can see pretty good using the little convex mirror on the tow mirrors.
- jnharleyExplorerWe flip ours up for towing and flip them down for daily driving.
- crcrExplorerAlways flip up for towing, down for non-towing.
- rhagfoExplorer IIIFlipped up towing flipped down for DD. I understand keeping up with a dually. One of the better improvements to the 01.
- NC_HaulerExplorerWhen towing, I have my mirrors flipped up. I've tried both way's and can see the tires on the 5er better with them flipped when cornering, and backing up, shows me a lot more of what is behind me and to the sides of me.
I leave mine flipped up, though it's my truck that I paid a nice price for and it's a dually, so I guess my great looking truck looks stupid to some, but it helps me gage driving into and out of some tight spots at time. If I had a SRW truck, I probably wouldn't leave the mirrors flipped up..truck is my daily driver also.
