Saliun S637 Tire Pressure

Dumping the Tow Max tires this week and replacing all 5 with the Saliun S637s 235/85R16 (G). My question is do you run them at the Max PSI of 110.

I have a Big Horn 3260EL when loaded weights 12,600 verifed by putting her on the scale.

Would appreciate the advice of anyone else that is using this tire.

Thanks in advance

  • I have Goodyear G614s.......same size as Saliun 637s.

Total weight of 5vr is 13,830#

    I run 105 psi.

I have NOT beat my trailer up, nor do I have less braking, and have not caused any impact damage.

Tires wear evenly across thread, run cool (IR Gun Results), have great contact patch.

Set them cold, run them, go camping!! It's not complicated.....don't make it so :B
  • Made picture of my filled in calculator and used you real weighed total load of 12600lbs and assumed because american 10% towbarload.
Tires I found on Sailun site as 3750 lbs maxload Loadindex 126 and speedcode L = max speed of tire 120km/75m/h.
Asumed your 5thwheeler to have 2 axles so single load maxload .
But if I am wrong correct me.

Also lowered the loadindex by 4 to 122 to give the tire a deflection that would be needed for 160km/99m/h, so saver and fulesaving and still no bumping. then it would give 105 psi as advice , and must be seen as maximum pressure with no terrible bumping, and maximum reserve for things like pressure loss in time , misreading of pressure etc etc.

Here the picture wich gives lowest pressure to have with no damage to tires and combined more load and unequall load R/L of 1260 lbs possible.

  • I have just under 2,700 pounds on each wheel (10,700 total on trailer axles) and I have been running my Sailuns at 110psi with no KNOWN issues. According to Chris I should be running under 80psi. Guess maybe a call to Sailun is in order.

Edit: I just spoke to my local Sailon Wholesaler and he agreed that at under 3k per tire I should be running around 85psi.
  • My trailer weighs 12,100lbs connected to the truck, all tanks empty but loaded to camp. I run my Sailuns at 90lbs. Have not put a lot of miles on so far, but all seems well. I changed out Load E LT truck tires as I was too close to the max weight of the LT tires. Happy with the Sailuns so far seems like a good tire for the price.
  • I run my Sailun tires at 100 psi. They are on a triple axle toyhauler with 12,000 lbs. on the axles. The trailer seems to ride fine, and since the tires are dead flat on the tread area I don't believe you will give up any braking capacity by dropping the air pressure a bit. This tire is not going to be a smooth riding tire like the Michelin, it is just too stiff.

I think the lowest I would go would be 90 psi, but that's me. YMMV. :)

So you bought tires with WAY more capacity than required! I am just a bit under your weight with around 10K on the axles and have ran 71 pounds inflation in XPS RIBs and now R250's for years with even tread wear and lots of trips to Arizona and back. What is the weight on your axles. Around 75 lbs inflation would be a good starting point. That is 2905 per tire for 11,620 total on the axles.

BTW I added 70 and 75 inflation to the earlier numbers.

If you want to beat you trailer up, have less braking, and a bigger chance on impact damage to the new tires then go ahead and run them at 110 inflation.

You are not clear on if the 12,600 is the weight on the axles or the total weight of the trailer(GVWR is listed as 14,000). Know the weight on the axles, preferably by each wheel position, and set the air to 5 lbs more than the inflation chart says based on the heaviest wheel.

    80=3042, 85=3170, 90=3300, 95=3415, 100=3550, 105=3675, 110=3750

At 110 the four tires can carry 15,000 pounds. You do not need that!
