At this point I wish I knew. The OEM Continentals lasted 27000 miles. The replacement Michelins LTX's have 25000 miles on 2 and the other 2 have less as both are replacements for road hazard failures. And the 2 originals have sidewall cracking but the dealer says they are okay ?? They will not make it to 50000 miles even if the sidewalls last. Don't know what will be next so I'll be watching this.
The OEM Continentals on mine were replaced at 17k due to tread separation on 2 of them. I replaced with Michelin LTX and they were replaced at 66k with a larger tire (65 to 70 cross section) for more capacity, Michelin Defender LTX. When replaced they still had 7/32nd of tread left. I don't know what size tires you have but these are 18". I have seen some with weather cracking but they were 17". Maybe a bad batch? I had no weather cracking over 4 yrs. - laknoxNomad

Replacing the 245/75/16 tires on my 2005 Duramax. I tow a fifth wheeler with a 1700# tongue weight. I am looking to replace the narrow factory wheels (if necessary). What is your opinion on the best tire for towing with this rig?
My '02 D'max has 265's on it. You pick up about 800 lbs' tire capacity. After having 6 of 8 BFG Long Trail and Rugged Trail TA's separate on me in 8 years, I'm now trying my first ever set of Cooper Discoverers. I do like a bit of an aggressive tread because I do go off-road some. I know I pay for it with a slight drop in mileage. The Coopers are =very= quiet and ride nice, even at 80 psi. The only thing I've noticed about them is that they want to follow road seams more than the BFGs did. Don't know if it's because they're new or just the design.

Has anyone tried Firestone Transforce?
I have the Transforce HT on my 2013 Ram 3500 SRW in 18" size. we tow a wildcat 337FB which is in the neighborhood of 12k lbs. I now have 37k miles on the tires, which have only been rotated 1x and they are doing ok. I do need to rotate them again (and more frequently i know!). I would consider them again but only if the cost difference of the Michelin or Goodyear tires is significant. I have over 10k miles in the past 2 years towing this camper with this truck. - n0arpExplorer

Have you checked the date codes on your tires? It sounds like they may have given you some that had been sitting on the rack for several years... - JIMNLINExplorer IIII've used the Firestone Transforce H/T on trailer with excellent service but haven't used them on a tow vehicle.
Having five trucks on the road with 16" truck tires I was never a tire brand person.
Most of my tire issues were with Goodyear tires.......but I wouldn't say they were junk. Probably several million Goodyear LT on the road and no issues. I'm looking to put a set of Goodyear Duratrac MT on the wifes 1500 4x4 chevy truck this fall.
I use mostly Cooper/BFG/Michelin/Bridgestone brand tires on my trucks.
IMO whats more important is the right tread type for the job you need the truck to do. - BowtiExplorerUpgraded from 245's to 265 Michelins, like others, I am very happy.

- n0arpExplorerAnother vote for Michelin. May be a little more expensive, but you get what you pay for. Toyo would be my second choice.

- Irish2ExplorerTruck came with Firestones and they did not last at all. Tried Michelins and they were good but tried Goodyear Wranglers and was not impressed, so switched back to Michelin Defender LTX and have been happy.
