Glad I got GSRA!

We're in the process of travelling across the country/continent from the east coast in our Class B RV. Today, in Calgary,AB, over 5k km from home, while washing the van in a self-serve wash bay, I struck a tire valve with the wash brush and broke it. The tire immediately went completely flat of course. I had no choice but to drive it flat into the parking lot to clear the bay.

As luck would have it, there was an Auto Centre in the same parking area! I checked if they would fix it and they agreed to do so as soon as they had a bay clear. They had NEVER HEARD OF GSRA but the Service Advisor took my info and said he'd contact them.

In the meantime. I called the 1-800# for GSRA, advised the agent what had happened and that there was a repair facility right there that could do the work - I gave them the name of the business. She said she would contact them. I thought "Sure!", thinking they'd want one of their regular contractors to perform the service. I had decided to get the work done at that neaby garage regardless if GSRA approved them.

So we left the keys with the service guy and went for an hours' exploring. When we returned, the van was just being backed out of the garage. Tire not damaged. TPMS sensor not damaged. The Service Advisor said he had gotten a call from GSRA right after we had left the keys with him and they had agreed to pay for the repair. I never had to pay a cent, not even for the valve! I didn't even have to sign anything or complete any paperwork! In fact I have no idea how much the repair cost was - although I expect it would be somewhere around $50.

After hearing all the horror stories on this forum about GSRA, I thought I had to post this very impressive service by both the garage and Good Sam!
