After difficulty changing a travel trailer tire during a trip in September, 2016, I purchased a Good Sam Roadside Assistance policy. On 6/11/2017, just west of Lincoln, NE, I had another trailer tire blowout while on the side of the I-80. Traffic was heavy, and I was happy to have the Good Sam policy. I called the Good Sam assistance number and after four hours of sitting on the side of the road (with two 2 year olds in the truck), I was ultimately told that the earliest they could get somebody to me was 8 am the following day. That was not an option, considering it was 9pm and we had been running the engine to keep the ac going for 4 hours at that point. I took it upon myself to call a truck stop that was several miles up the road, and they provided a telephone number for a guy who was able to get out and get me back on the road. I will be contacting Good Sam to request my money back. To say that I was disappointed with the service is an understatement. Don't waste your money.

BobnKrisYiu know you can just sign into your GSRA account and fill out a reimbursement request to get the money you paid out of pocket for the tire change. OR did you need a tire delivered

Every other day there is a post about issues with GSRA. When do you think they will get their head out of the sand and correct these issues. I will not even shop at Camping World for the lack of customer service. We were gonna buy a new Winnebago Diesel pusher from them well . . . Right before signing the sales manager came out (different from first one) and said "the other one made a mistake we have to adjust your trade down $7500" BYE BYE we said. Did a deal right down the street from them with no BS

Yiu know you can just sign into your GSRA account and fill out a reimbursement request to get the money you paid out of pocket for the tire change. OR did you need a tire delivered

If reimbursement was the service... better coverage is probably available through the vehicle insurance company.

But rather the service is sold as having a number to call to get service directly from a reputable company that has been vetted by GS. And certainly Interstates should be well covered.

I am just trying to educate him and others that they can take the reimbursement route when and if GSRA fails them. As for me so far the service has been great.

I have a question, is it true GS calls tow truck service,s and barters on the price ? then picks the cheapest bid? if so this is why it takes hours to get help.

I have a friend who runs a towing service. They contract with the roadside companies for a specific time period usually one year, give rates covering most situations and have room to negotiate special circumstances or on a case by case basis with some companies. Direct pay customers will always be first.There are times when there are just not any trucks available and he has bumped calls to take higher priority customers. The roadside service can not control anything the tow company does outside the agreement since they are independent contractors; otherwise under IRS rules they would become employees of the roadside company. If the tow company does not follow through on the agreement then the only thing a roadside company can do is not use them again. That is why they have the reimbursement clause to cover when things go wrong and the customer does it themselves. You can read on other forums that all of the roadside companies and the insurance companies have people complaining about service.
I have had GSRA, CoachNet and AAA over the years. I would never go back to AAA. CoachNet was okay but so far GSRA has taken care of me.
