Is Camping World selling personal data ?

I am on the DO NOT CALL list.. but as stated here, it is not enforced, and companies know that.

Many calls that pretend to be SURVEYS ... are REALLY seeing just how many people actually WILL take the call, and be polite ...THIS IS THE WORST THING ANYONE CAN DO !

In reality, what they ARE doing is selling your name to other telemarketers as " RECEPTIVE" to phone calls . This is a totally different list that plain Cold Calling, and many firms pay premium prices for this list.
It means you WON'T scream and hang up, which GUARANTEES you to get more phone calls than most people.

I say Good Sam is violating our rights by giving / selling our personal info to TRAVEL RESORTS or any other 3rd party , and only by calling them and DEMANDING this policy be changed ....will it cease !

Regarding the national "Do Not Call" list;

Any company you have done business with has the right to call you regardless of your national "Do Not Call" status until such time as you inform them to place you on their internal "Do Not Call" list.

Never give your real phone number or any email address to companies asking for it. They'll tell you they never give out out or sell it, it's just so they can contact you in case of recalls, etc.

Also, the Do Not Call registry is a joke. It means nothing to these companies, because they know the FCC has no teeth and does not enforce it. It also does not apply to cell phones, although they will accept your number on the on-line form.

In the end, they only know what you tell them.

And as far as feeling sorry for the solicitors, not gonna happen. Call me once, I'll politely tell them I'm not interested and not to call again. Second time, I get nasty. Third time, the very loud air horn comes out. They usually stop after that blast.

Think you have it bad, how about the person at the other end of the phone who has to make hundreds of those unsolicited calls a day. You can bet that 99 out of 100 of those calls result in either a hang up or worse. The person making the calls is constantly monitored by their supervisors to be sure they give a cheerful sales pitch rather than say what I am sure they want to say which is "sorry I disturbed you, but right now this is the only job I have and I have bills to pay". I am also sure the number one dream each of those phone solicitors have is that some day their phone will ring and at the other end will be the offer of a better job.
Personally, nothing is better than the fact that most unwanted advertising has moved to mail and e-mail. Much easier on both sides of the coin to just toss or delete.

Tinyone ... If you feel the 8PM telemarketing calls from a fake phone number, from someone who has been given sensitive personal info about you are OK ... then that choice rests with you alone.It is not up to me to say you cannot feel that way.

I see it quite differently, and I do everything I can to keep such elements out of MY life.

Tenbear ... While that is true, it still is a contributor to Identity Theft and credit card fraud.. which I personally have experienced 2 times.

I go out of my way to answer these calls, and present a scenario that makes them put me on their POISON list ... otherwise the calls do continue, and the chances of ID theft are greater.

I still feel that Good Sam should present a higher standard than that ... It is not like they are going broke and NEED a few extra bucks to survive.

OR ... they could just change their name to " SNEAKY SAM CLUB " !

This is much ado about nothing. Privacy is an illusion created by us. The truth is just by signing on the internet you have given up almost all privacy. Protect yourself but don't get too upset. There's far more worrisome things in this world.

IMHO almost everyone collects and sells our personal data. Its the way of life now days.

Unless I recognize the phone number I let the call go to the answering machine, then decide if I want to take the call. We get more junk calls than useful calls.
