Membership cancelled - fell outside unknown parameters

Let me jump into this topic. Just got my insurance cancelled today, letter sent out on the 6/14. I called and got some girl and when I asked why my insurance got cancelled I was given the standard statement that a review had been done and we didn't meet policy parameters. I asked three times and was given the same statement so I asked to speak to a supervisor. When the supervisor came or I asked her to explain and she started with the same spiel and I told her it wasn't good enough and if I didn't meet policy why did they just renew me in the last month.

Well it seems that I am making them loose money. I had 4 calls in the last year that cost them over $700. The last one was on the 6th of this month when my new 5er blew a tire just 2 miles from home.

Since I have the Platinum roadside (which they don't carry anymore) I didn't believe there was a problem. This was sold to me several years ago for my entire family that I paid extra dollars for since it would cover every car, truck, and trailer I have for my family. I found out later that there was and age limit for my daughters (I have one that lives and home and is disabled and I support but is to old to be covered).

At present I am without insurance until I find someone that will cover my family. I am a life member of GS and think this is BS. If I had been on a trip I probably be a lot more Peeved. The last company I had didn't give me this grief when I lost 4 tires on a trip in less than 6 months.

Exact same thing happened to me! Had roadside assistance for 3 years, got cancelled when my daughter used it without our knowledge getting gas and for locking her keys in her car repeatedly!!! Was enrolled in autopay renewal and found out we got cancelled when we were out west and needed a tire replaced. This was due to our daughter using our card without permission but doesn't seem to matter to these people!!! We only used it in emergency situations!!! Waste of time trying to explain to them the situation, daughter doesn't live at home anymore so that problem is solved and now we will look for a more reliable roadside service!!! Very seldom did we use them, had a fuel pump on our truck go out, needed towed home (5 miles), then towed to service center next day. We were headed home from Florida. Tire replacements as well. Nothing was out of line except our daughter using it, without our permission!

They were calls never the less. Is the amount of calls allocated in a given time period published in anything they MAY HAVE sent you?

First post complaining - not complaining. I normally stay away from forums. I felt others need to be aware. 3 minor calls should hardly be considered high usage, AAA same level service allows 4 calls per year. Actually we had two calls in the first year and one call was recently after the second year started. I am afraid the offer to look into it is a little too late, it should have been addressed when I made the phone call. I already signed up with Coach-Net which has excellent reviews.

That is only partially true.

The whole point of an insurance company is to spread the risk out among a LARGE number of customers, most of whom never make a claim.

This kind of heavy handed, no appeal, no details type of handling of it's customers is what makes so many people dislike CW......and other companies who operate with little or no real regard for it's customers.

For this to be a valid business practice, each case must be looked at on it's own merits; NOT a blanket 3 claims in 3 months no flexibility policy.

Once again it is abundantly clear that most of CW has no idea what good customer service really IS. Alas, they are not even close to being unique in that though.

Use it and lose it.

Sometimes I think GSE pays you to be the forum apologist and Cheerleader for all things GoodSam.

This habit of cancellation without cause is a big one for many States Attorneys General.

If the OP's description of his claim history is correct it seems reasonable to me given the fact that if you look at the numbers GSE is making a very tidy sum off of RSA.

They claim to have 500,000 members yes Half a Million. Multiply that by and average yearly cost of $79.95

Thats $39,975,000 Per Year! even if they keep only 40% that's $15,990,000/year

THIRTY NINE MILLION DOLLARS is significant cash flow from one corporate entity.

I wouldn't waste any energy feeling too sorry for them. With those numbers there is no excuse for the kinds of issues we see on this forum related to their service.

Things to consider when looking at roadside assistance programs:

Most all use the same tow companies.

The number you call will be answered by a person that knows nothing about your location. If you don't know where your at, neither will the person your talking to.

You need to know if you need a heavy duty wrecker, medium duty, or a light duty.

Know your vehicles weight and length. This will determine the size of wrecker.

If you need a tire, know the size.

Be prepared to wait. In Arizona it's not uncommon for disabled motorists to wait a couple of hours for a heavy duty to tow a motor home. You may wait longer if your roadside assistance provider does not contract with the closest tow company.
