Thanks to everyone for their replies. I have already filed a complaint with the Florida Department of Financial Services. I was told that they give the insurance company 20 days to respond, so I should wait 30 days before expecting a response. No immediate help there,but maybe something to hope for in the future.

I did get a call from a supervisor at NGIC yesterday. This is the third time I have spoken to this gentleman. He gave me the same stale story about how they are waiting for a letter from U.S. Bank guaranteeing a payoff amount. In the next breath, he told me the check was already written, and just waiting for this letter to be produced by the bank. I may not be the brightest star in the sky, but I generally wait until I know the exact amount before I write a check. That sounds like stonewalling to me. My claim is fast approaching 3 months old. It was declared a total loss about 2 weeks in. That means they have had over 2 months to obtain a letter from the bank. Give me a break!

What really bothers me is that I have heard absolutely nothing from Good Sam. I purchased insurance from the Good Sam RV Insurance company because I trusted and respected the Good Sam name. If they farmed it out, that is on them. I expect Good Sam to stand behind me. If we weren't Life Members, I would have already cancelled my membership. I guess Good Sam does not care about us, since they are no longer getting dues money from us. It's very sad, but that seems to be the way businesses operate in today's world.

Since Progressive is one of the insurers with GS I would think you could request Progressive over National General when obtaining a quote. But I would get a quote from Progressive first and then compare with GS quote. As for me I am sticking with Progressive because every time I get a quote from GS it is about double what I am paying now. Even if I utilized the reduced rate during the non use season, it is still more than what I am paying now.

Just send them a Registered Letter stating that you want a check in your hand within 2 weeks. Let them know if that does not happen, you will file with the Fl. Ins. Commissioner a Bad Faith claim. Ins. Co. do not want Bad Faith Claims filed against them.

My wife and I are Life Members of The Good Sam Club. I am currently recommending that everyone steer clear of Good Sam Insurance. Here is my experience:
We decided to go with National General Insurance through Good Sam RV Insurance when we purchased a new travel trailer in September 2016. I wanted Good Sam RV Insurance because I thought they would be more in tune with RV'ers unique problems and concerns. On June 11, 2018, our travel trailer was stolen from the storage facility where we kept it. We filed a claim with National General on June 15, 2018. I was told claims such as mine are typically settled in 2-3 weeks. I just retired in April, and my wife and I had planned our first retirement trip in August. National General Insurance has been less than responsive to my concerns. The only way I heard from them was if I initiated contact. I was told more than once about some problem or other that they were facing. I was promised by more than one agent that they would get back to me in a day or two. I never heard anything unless I called them back. I spoke with a supervisor in the Claims Department twice. The response from him seemed to be better, but my claim did not move along. Apparently, there was a mistake made on the paper work when we purchased the travel trailer concerning the VIN number, resulting in two VIN numbers being used. This paper work was all done by the Sales department at Camping World. I don't fault National General Insurance with the mistake, however, I don't feel that they were aggressive enough in pursuing a solution. It has now been over two months since my initial claim, and there is no end in sight, as far as I can tell. My trip plans have been ruined. Before realizing that this claim was being dragged out, I transferred my other vehicle insurances to National General Insurance. I am now thinking that I made a big mistake. I continue to make monthly loan payments on a travel trailer that I no longer have the use of. I can't help but wonder if National General Insurance is not delaying a settlement for as long as possible in order to reduce the amount they have to pay. I am also continuing to make insurance payments on a vehicle that I no longer own.
As of September 1, 2018, I still have no resolution. My claims agent told me everything had been handed over to the RV replacement company. The agent there tells me he has heard nothing from National General. What a mess! Needless to say, I will be shopping for new insurance once this claim is settled.
