Re-new, or not?

If you must have a number to call then get it. If you have the ability to just call a local company I would just call as needed. There are no 'good sam' trucks roving around helping people. They just locate a service close to you and send them out. If you can change a tire and are not prone to run out of fuel, need a jump or get stuck in the mud then I say skip it. I have needed one tow in 15 years and it cost $85 (cash) on new years eve. No 100% guarantee either way for prompt and good service.

RSS is a gamble any way you look at it. GSRA seems to be a bigger gamble if they can or will take care of you when needed.

:) Hi, I haven't been towed in decades, but one never knows when it will happen. Been towing for ten years, for many thousands of miles, in 14 western States and 3 western Provinces. I can easily afford to pay more than three times the GS fee. I can't afford to sit on the side of the road for many hours waiting to see if someone will show up or not.

PLEASE check the differences of various coverages. AAA still has RV coverage that but I believe varies from area to area. Not a happy surprise to discover you have traveled into a NO coverage zone. Has happened..................

How far will each provider tow? Is that to an appropriate facility or the next tiny town? Do they have 24x7 tech assistance available? Do they refer/mak you an appointment at a proper repair facilities? Are both your tow vehicle and trailer covered? CoachNet got us taken care of with only a signature on the drivers form. There are also good stories about Good Sam.

As consumers, we need to be realistic that all providers rely upon their local service folks. Some are better than others. CN always calls me afterwards to see if the service was timely and done correctly. In four service calls over the years, I have been very happy.

For me, having RV specific coverage is an essential part of being on the road. I will NOT go on the road without the added peace of mind of having roadside assistance I KNOW will take care of the RV.

Heres' to trouble free RVing and no need for service!

I have to put in a word for AAA although I admit I haven't tried Good Sam RA.

We bought a 40' diesel pusher last year and on the way home I tried a tight corner in a parking lot and the tail pipe hit a rock and broke it off the muffler. Running the coach would have put fumes into the bedroom so I called AAA.

It was late and they had to come 100 km so they couldn't get us that night but the next morning I was very pleased to see a semi with a 48' lowering flat deck pull up. We loaded up, and he carried our coach to a welding shop where we got fixed up. The driver was probably the most pleasant service person I've met in my life - very was professional and extremely courteous.

I was especially pleased to note that our RV coverage was under $200 but that tow bill alone would have been about $1100! Thank goodness for AAA - that bill would've ruined the last day of our vacation.

:) Hi, I'm only somewhat concerned about my trailer. Yes I do have the basic AAA, but no-one seems to have read that my new F-150 has road side assistance too. So I have AAA and Ford.
