Stuck in a rest area.....Good Sam fail? we shall see....
Stuck in a rest area.....loosing power big time on hills, check engine light on. Called Good Sam Platinum, talked with them, told them we suspected a clogged fuel filter, as a similar thing happened in our old coach. They asked if we wanted a mobile mechanic or to be towed. We thought a mobile mechanic would be the easiest thing to try first.
Mobile mechanic can only get one of the possible filters (now waiting several hours, still not here), Good Sam calls to verify service is complete, but hangs up before I can tell them no. I call back and tell them they aren't here yet....blah, blah, blah. Then I say, that the mobile guys can't get all of the right filters and they told me they don't work on RVs, so what happens if they can't fix it? Then, and only then, do they tell me that if we need to be towed, it's on us as you only get one service per call!! WHAT???!! You send someone out to work on an RV, that doesn't work on RVs and never told me I could only get one service per call. If I had known that, I would have had them tow me. But then again, they would have towed me to the same place that doesn't work on RVs and can get RV parts, instead of the place 50 miles ahead that can and does work on Cummins RV engines...........Lets just hope the one filter they were able to find, which they care charging me to drive and pick up, is the right one and I don't incur another fee to be towed.
You count on them to advise you, you pay them because they know RVs.........not a happy camper right now. Word of warning to others that might be in the same situation.....always pick the tow if you can, at least you won't be on the side of the road still stuck!
