Here are a few facts about the Good Sam Extended Service Plan. No, it does not cover maintenance items. No Extended Warranty or Service Contract or Mechanical Breakdown Insurance policy does. But it does cover thousands of mechanical components in your RV. As you all know, RVs are expensive to repair (average labor rates are around $110 per hour now). And like any other insurance plan, you hope you don't need it when you buy it, but ONE out of THREE Good Sam members who have Good Sam ESP have a paid claim EVERY YEAR. That includes towables as well as motorized RVs. Compare that to the frequency of claims for your homeowners or auto insurance!
Yes, you need to read what is covered and what is excluded for any plan or insurance policy. For instance, to keep your coverage in place, you must keep up with your maintenance (oil and filter changes and the like). And if we can repair something (like a furnace) instead of replacing it, and still solve the problem, that's what we will do. We don't use parts from the junk yard! But some components can be replaced with quality re-built parts that have the same warranty as a brand new part.
To get the full advantage from your Good Sam ESP, you should always call us FIRST before you take your RV in for repairs. We have an extensive network of Preferred Providers who are qualified to repair any kind of component on your RV, and if you can use one of these Preferred Providers, you will be assured that the shop will accept payment directly from Good Sam, won't overcharge you or do unnecessary work, and will stand behind what they do.

Dear Scott,
As General Manager of Good Sam Continued Service Plan, perhaps you can give me your help and advice.
We bought the Good Sam Extended Service Plan for our Holiday Rambler Vacationer in 2007 and have paid over $7,000 in premiums since then believing that major repairs would be covered when needed.
It turns out that now the transmission needs to be replaced, but Good Sam has declined our claim because we do not have a detailed receipt for the transmission fluid change.
My husband was a certified truck mechanic for over 40 years. Because of this, he knows the value of good preventive maintenance and has been diligent with oil and transmission fluid changes as well as other maintenance. He keeps a log book of all work he does to the RV with dates and mileage records.
Although the detailed receipt for the transmission fluid has been lost, we have submitted the pages of his maintenance log to Good Sam along with a copy of our credit card bill showing a purchase from AutoZone which matches the date in the log. We believe that this is reasonable proof of our purchase of transmission fluid. Good Sam has still denied our claim.
We went back to AutoZone, talked to the store manager as well as the district manager. They tried their best to be helpful. Although they agree that the purchase shown on the credit card bill matches a purchase for 17 quarts of transmission fluid on the date stated, they just do not keep records of individual purchases for that long, and were unable to provide a duplicate receipt.
We’ve put our money and good faith in Good Sam’s Extended Service Plan for 6 years and have never filed a claim. We have tried our best to come up with receipts. We believe that our log book record and credit card bill are reasonable proof that the required transmission fluid change was done. What more can we do to get our claim approved?
