What a joke

I bought this hopping for peace of mind. I bought a $50,000 fifth wheel spend a extra $5000 for extended coverage that according to the sales people cover all major expenses but when the furnace quits it only covers part of the furnace! Then when you see the slide out starting to get water damage on the bottoms it only covers mechanical issues, what a waste of money I'm sure they have figured out the things that never brake and they are covered! I'll never buy another extended service agreement through "Good Sam"!

  • the best part of my extended warranty is when I cancelled it and got my refund. They do not cover enough items on a travel trailer or 5th wheel to be of benefit to anyone but the stealership or the insurance company.
  • Yeah, they offered a vehicle plan too.
When I drilled down to the "exclusion" parts of the plan, there wasn't much left that was actually covered.
Pretty much a total waste money.
  • If possible, cancel the policy and bank the money for future repairs.
I'm betting you'll be money ahead.
  • I would have put the $5K in a savings account for future repair expenses. Likely you would never deplete it.
  • I worked for a used car dealer, they sold a brand name extended warranty. Kickback of $300 for each one sold. Good money for doing nothing.
When an a/c compressor failed, they covered the casual part only, no fluids(freon), no recharge cost, minus the deductable.
And then had the nerve to send a used compressor from a wrecking yard.
I guess bottom line is like everyone is saying.....caveat emptor.
  • It does not matter whom the broker is that sells the policy, its the insureds responsiblity to read and understand the terms of the policy. Most do not cover things that are considered maintenance items.
Deteriorated slide seals. Loose, corroded wiring connections, dirty orfices and the like are maintenance items not covered under many policies.

Re-read that statement over and over again. It will tell you everything you need to know.

    JMHO
  • Everyone has to find out for their selves about these policies. It is basically an insurance policy. Like insurance policies a few people actually benefit from them. The majority do not. If they weren't a source of good income for the companies they wouldn't be selling them. I had them on 3 RVs. Never used them. On my last TT I cashed it in and got most of my money back. If you haven't used the policy that is a fairly good option. JMHO.
