First post for First RV. We have never,ever owned one before. Paid a whopping $5K for it. Exceptional shape on the inside..needs a bit of love on the outside, but it's not bad. Solid with no leaks. 127K miles. It is surprisingly quiet inside while cruising and the steering is tight. Engine is powerful, quiet and idles hot with 40 lb of oil pressure. Chev 454.I do have a couple of questions: The heater blower control on the dash that controls the cab heater/ac doesn't work on anything but defrost. It has buttons to switch to different places. I m guessing that there is a vacuum tank somewhere that is supposed to be hooked up to this controller and switches it by vacuum.?Is it advisable to run the generator whist cruising on the road, so the roof air conditioner can be used while driving?The left side of the windshield is cracked. Are these still available? Can someone recommend some mid grade front shocks for this unit? I thing that's aboot it. We are looking forward to heading to Colo Sprngs/Myrtle Beach/Upper Michigan/Back to OR in the first part of June. Any suggestions/tips/ would be greatly appreciated. We will (hopefully) be towing a small flatbed trailer with our Goldwing/Sidecar rig as the "toad" (is that the proper term for what ever one tows behind an rv?? a Toad?)Anywho..thanks for any and all feedback,eh?BradCurrently in Central Oregon, Roseburg area.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your RV.It is okay and safe to run the generator while driving. Contact an auto glass service, they can tell you about the availability of the windshield. Or, your insurance company may be able to give you the name of a glass replacement service.Did you check the age of the tires? That's important. RV tires usually age out before they wear out.

Sounds very nice. I would leave the windshield alone for not if not a legal issue. Look at the vacuum line running from the black softball shape vacuum tank setting on top of the radiator (92 P30 location) running to the Evans unit or back to the controls inside. New tires made it a better buy. The 454 is a powerhouse and at that size the transmission is not over loaded. Do you have a way to post pictures?We are at 109K miles and still does not use a quart in 3000 miles. We run the generator when every it is needed or like when the 12v alternator was dead for several months to keep that starting battery charged and headlights working.

Welcome.... As for shocks, check with you local auto parts for Monroe, or other brand name auto shocks. You shouldn't need the expensive, high-end MH shocks.Good luck and enjoy!

Depending how long ago he had the blowouts and when he replaced them, they could appear "new" and be quite old.

I would like to call upon you guys from time to time with questions about the Fleetwood 22D. I like ours except I am 6 ft 2 and the bed is a bit short. Lastest project is Corian counter top in kitchen, sink and back splash. Waiting on the wife to pick out faucet and two more sheets of back splash then I complete it. Already rebuilt bathroom after PO had roof leak. Done a bunch of work but have enjoyed it, OK most of it, didn't like the suspension work.

Just saw your post and welcome to the wonderful world of Flair 22. We absolutely love ours. Check out my posts to see what we have done. Lots of suspension work which helped immensely.

Well ok the fix worked to level them out. Used a couple of big hex nuts as spacers to drop the back end. Still have to put the wiring back but raining here in good ole SC. Also have to track down a little leak over the door which is draining down onto the bottom step. The PO put a little channel over the door which was a good idea but it is pulled off a little from the camper and believe the water is draining down there. Resealing when weather permits.

Just replaced all the wood in the lower entry step. The electric step had a carriage bolt pull through and was hanging a bit lower. Cleaned rust off the step while I had it off and repainted it. Once I remounted it I noticed the step tilts down toward the outside by about a half an inch. Going to drop the side closest to drive shaft and on the mount a bit to level it out. Would really like a three or four inch extension, it seems short. I did add the rubber traction strips to the entire step, it took four strips but I like it, lot better I think than original sandpaper type. Lots of fun.

Found the culprit! The "round sort of thing with one hose" actually had another connection to it without a hose attached. I found the hose laying a foot away. After a bit of rerouting, the hose is now plenty long enough so it will stay connected. All of the functions on the heater controller now work.

That is great. Welcome to the right to own an old MH. :)

We found we had to just stick with issues like you did so we could keep our old MH working. We had a vacuum hose that got against the fan belt and cut a notch in it and the cruise control stopped working. We were about to head out on a trip with no cruise control when the daughter found the problem and put electrical tape over the notched out hole. Years later the cruise control is still working.
