1995 F53 460 alternator belt with out AIR ...........UPDATE

I just pulled off the road at the Sky Casino in NM. and heard a belt squeal. The AIR pump is froze up. I removed the AIR pulley and need to find a belt length or part # for a alternator/water pump belt with out AIR.

  • Issue resolved. Dutch was spot on with the 47.5" belt.

    Thanks a bunch Dutch, I owe you a cold one or 2 or 3 or 4.

  • Are you sure all F53 460’s came with a smog pump? I thought I read the 97 chassis didn’t, but I may be wrong.

    Rock Auto lists a replacement smog pump for the '97 F53, but I didn't dig any farther...

    Yes all 460 F53s came with AIR (smog pump). One of my customers had a 97 winnie on a 97 F53 chassis with AIR.
    Not all 460 F53s has catalytic converters. No converter for 94-97 chassis.

  • I did the same thing when the dash A/C compressor seized and took out the belt on the 425HP CAT in my Beaver Marquis. Luckily, Brett Wolfe came to my aid and advised that the water pump was gear driven and all I had to worry about was keeping up the charge on the chassis battery to limp to a service place. Had to get a new idler to take up slack and a brand new belt. Done for me by a shop in Bethel, PA. They were magnificent! As was Brett! I was back on the road the next morning.
