2002 Monaco Diesel

Does it come with any maintenance records from work done in a shop? Things like hoses, belts, fliters, and tires can all age out, no matter how good they look. If the tires are approaching 7 years old, that can be another $3000+ outlay.
A lot depends on how well it was maintained and documented.

The age of the tires comes to mind along with when it was serviced, fuel filters, air cleaner last change, air drier cartridge age, if it has an Aqua-Hot it needs attention annually. A leaking jack could result in an expensive service in the future. Check for rotted stitching/material on the patio and slide toppers. When was the generator serviced, any issues. Condition of the side wall fiberglass as crazing is an issue with some model years, mine included. Has the serpentine belt been replaced and the A/C drive belt? I'm sure you will get additional suggestions.

A general rule of thumb is to set aside 10 percent of the purchase price for the first year issues. Deferred maintenance, replacing tires and the mattress etc.

They were great coaches, if that one is in good condition and at the right price it should be a good deal.

engine and generator were all serviced two months ago and 800 miles ag he has every piece of any and all paperwork and manuals that ever happened including maintaince. also the said the belts air filter air dryer filter for air brakes and air bags serviced and the tanks were manually opened but no water in them the only bad thing I can find is the two televisions have to be changed it does have satellite on the roof. tires were changed two years ago except one has a cut in it not leaking yet the sidewall so I will replace it. It does need exterior clean up it had been washed with hard water so a bit of hard water spots. I heard from someone that had theres wet sanded waxed and sealed price $900.00 it looked like this one but now it real shiny and bright. Does any one know who might do that kind of detail clean up in north west Georgia I also heard of a place that sells kits to install the flat screens and the passenger flex steel captain chair could stand at least a cover or recovered at a minimum unless I here a lot of negative I will probably get it was a one owner master chief owned who has been retired right after he bought it I was glad my son his wife me and my wife spent about 5 hours looking to see if it had leaked in the past he kept up with the caulking strip out the old and put back new caulk selling for the N A D A retail value yes it has a lot Feed Back would be Great Thank All Who help

Doesn't matter when the tires were replaced. Check the tire date codes for accuracy. If you don't know how, let us know. Easy to do. Pay attention to the mechanical part of the coach. The TVs, water spots etc are simply "fluff". The leaking jack may or may not be or become a problem so I'd look at it closely. Inspect it closely. Monaco made great coaches. In 2002, the Dip was fourth in line. It will not have the steel chassis like the Dynasty, Exec and Sig but still a great coach....BOL...Dennis

Monaco used good paint so try using some vinegar to remove the hard water spots. Price should be NADA low retail with no options or miles added. DOT date is last four #s so 1313 would be the 13th week of 2013. Sounds like a well loved rig.

Just my $.02 here but NADA trade value is a deal for a private sale. Low retail could be fair but could be negotiated off the street with at least some sort of warranty at many dealers.

It really depends on what price you feel is fair, I don't mean to offend your friend at all with this post.

You didn't say if low or high with the NADA pricing, but you can find below...low retail...all day long from private sellers, consignment sales and even full retail dealers. Anything you find before the sale, old tire dates, etc...,subtracts from low retail and be rest assured, you'll find enough issues for getting your attention, after the sale.
You're looking at around $26K for a 40ft with 3 slides, so figure from there.
Wanna be critical, even with not much money talking here, it's somewhat under-powered at 330HP and not sure if it has a side radiator or not. Again, not enough money involved for too many deal breakers....click NADA
