Yes, no problem plugging into 50amp. You will only draw what you need. Probably 30 max.

Yup... no problem. Probably 60-75 percent of the time Im at a campground it's a 30 Amp service and my trailer is 50 Amp

The schematic of the adapter will look like this. NOTE: Only one HOT LEG is wired to your trailer. You will have 50A service all the way to your 120V Circuit breaker Panel but will only be allowed to use 30A of it otherwise you will trip the main 30A Circuit breaker ion your panel. The fuses you are reffering to are 12VDC fuses. None of this are involed with the 120VAC side of your panel...

Actually you will find the 50A service alot more reliable since most folks do you use this at the campgrounds. They most have the 30A Trailers...

The only drawback i have heard about is the 30A Shore Power Cable may not be rated high enough for the 50A Service you are plugged into but seems to be safe as you only will be able to draw only 30AMPS through it...

Always carry an adapter, from 50 down to 30, and one from 15-20 up to your 30 plug. if you are plugged in to a 20A supply, an overload will trip the source breakers. If you are plugged into 30 or 50A supply, overload will trip breakers in RV. May trip outside breakers on a weak 30A source. Use common sense and just don't overload. Its not like you are at home with a 300A supply.

As others have said, you can plug into the 50A socket with an appropriate adapter.

It helps things make sense if you understand that the mains power supply is set up as a constant potential (or constant voltage) system and the current rating is simply the maximum that the socket, etc. can safely supply. The only current that flows is whatever is used by the stuff you have turned on. If you turn on too much stuff, a breaker trips due to the overcurrent (to prevent bigger problems, like melted sockets or wires catching on fire); but up to that point, for most all practical purposes, a 20A and a 30A and a 50A supply behave the same way--they give you 120V AC at whatever current your load is using.

It's a little like hooking up air tools to an air compressor with a regulator set at, say, 90 psi. If you hook up a little pin nailer, that uses very little air, it gets 90 psi. If you hook up an impact wrench that uses somewhat more air, it also gets 90 psi assuming the compressor is sufficiently sized. At some point if you try to use too much air the pressure does have to drop, but up until then it stays the same regardless of the air flow. You don't get larger airflow using the pin nailer by hooking it up to a larger compressor, nor is its operation any more or less safe.

It is always nice to have a 50 to 30 amp adapter for your 30 amp RV. You will not be able to exceed 30 amps, due to the main breaker in your RV rated at 30 amps.

Many times you will find that the 30 amp plug has been overloaded, and has weak brass contacts inside. Your adapter is barely used each year (compared to the campground 30 amp receptacle) and will last for years.

When I am using my voltage booster, it will always draw about 10% more amperage than the output amperage. So if plugged into a 50 amp receptacle, it will not trip, while a 30 amp plug out in the sun, it might trip at slightly less than 30 amps going through it. I could be drawing 29.9 amps and not trip my inside circuit breaker, while the voltage booster would be drawing about 33 or 34 amps.

It is mostly older RV parks that are 30 amps only that have voltage drop problems. Modern parks with 50 amp breakers and receptacles have much larger wires, and larger meter service, so they typically will also have higher voltage at each site.

Okay, Please educate the person typing this reply for I am a total idiot when it comes to these things.

I thought that 50 amp service is two 25 amp circuits. Is not the adapter providing 25 amp service? I thought using the 50 amp adapter provided less amperage than using the 30 amp service directly.

50A RV service is 50A 120/240V split phase service, so each leg is limited to 50A. It can supply a theoretical maximum of 12 kW, compared to 3.6 kW for 30A 120V RV service. With the adapter you can in practice use just as much current as with the 30A plug. (The supply is greater, but you're limited by the main breaker in the RV's panel, and using more than 30A would typically be overloading the shore power wiring in the RV anyway.)
