- Jq1953ExplorerI drive a 2014 E450, 31 ft Winnie.
Over the last 16 months and 9000 miles, the gas mileage has averaged 9 mpg overall with a tow being pulled--Honda CRV. I have seen 11 mpg, but not often, never below 7 mpg.
I think my driving style is fairly conservative, which I think is a major factor for good mileage. I drive mainly Interstates, using cruise, at 60 mph, and let the cruise downshift if needed. - CloudDriverExplorerOur 24 ft Minnie on the E450 has averaged 9.5 mpg over the past 60,000 miles.
As already mentioned, speed and quick acceleration kills mileage. I mostly drive 55-60 mph and use a light foot on the gas as much as possible.
RVs and good gas mileage don't go together. - IslandmanExplorerI'm getting 9.5 to a little over 10 mpg with a 23 ft Coach House on the E450 Ford chassis; the Coach House is more streamlined than many older Class C's in that it doesn't have an upper bunk overhang over the cab. Several other brands are also similar in design and get good mileage too.
- Kit_CarsonExplorerI have a Winnebago Outlook, 29' 2008 model. I usually drive it about 58 mph, no toad, no cruise control and I average 8.7 mpg. If conditions are perfect, no headwind, flat land highway, I can squeeze 9 mpg out of it. That said I find it best to not worry about MPG and just enjoy the lifestyle the motorhome affords us. Happy travels!!!
- Hank85713Explorercamper there just to many variable to get a single answer. Some will drive 55 to claim 8-10 or better, some will drive 65 and claim 8-9 or better. It will also depend on where you are driving and if you are towing anything.
We bought a 2012 28 ft Winnebago aspect a B+ about 18 months ago. I got it for the better aero aspects on the road vs the big overhang sail. Empty without a tuner (1st bought it) we got almost 8 but it was all mountains (prescott az to Lakeside to Pheonix to tucson) We were trying it out for 1st time after we bought it. Had it on some good hills so took a lot to move it up and down.
I purchased a 5Star tuner for it and we then drove last summer almost 5000 miles towing a 2013 Hyundai Elantra (2700 lbs). From tucson to ft hood tx to dallas we got around 8.5. From there we went to ala, to ohio, ill and still got around 8.5. We crossed nebraska to colo at 70 mph and got 9.8 (flat lands!).
We returned home and again were at 8-8.5 across south colo to NM to AZ and down into tucson. Maybe if I drove like a fuddy duddy I could get better I dont know. But the tuner did make it a more civilized vehicle and I do believe that is why the mileage was so consistent. At times the scan gauge dropped to 4 MPG on the readout but its the overall that finally counts. A smaller rig could do better but just the same it could do worse depending on how its driven. The wife detests slo motion so the 65-70 mph drives vs anything else. - Mich_FExplorer

E350 or E450? Thanks.Mich F wrote:
I had a 1997 Coachmen with a V10. In over 4 years of traveling I averaged a little over 10 mpg. Most of the driving was in Florida.
That was an E350
I had high hopes for my newer Itasca, on an E450, as far as gas mileage is concerned. I thought even though it's a much larger coach, it has a newer V10 and the 5 speed instead of 4 speed transmission. When it was new I was normally getting 9 to 9.5 or so mpg. I hoped this might improve as I put more miles on it. In reality the opposite has happened. The best I'm getting is about 8.5 or 8.6mpg. That is with a conscious effort to stay under 60MPH on some trips, or just a few miles per hour over 60 on other trips. Oh well it is what it is. :B - ed6713ExplorerMost of your vehicles mileage depends on your driving habits.
Slow down and you mileage goes up.
Over the last 150,000 +- miles, not towng, I average about 8 to 9 mph depending on terrain. When towng deduct about 1 mpg. - KristinUExplorerWe average around 8. Sometimes as high as 10, sometimes as low as 7. There are so many variables like terrain, speed, towing or not, etc.
The way we look at it is this: it isn't our daily driver and we're still usually ahead of airfare, especally if you include stops in multiple destinations. Plus we get to have our dogs along when we trave, and the lack of dogsitting fees is usually a near full offset in gas depending on the length of our trip. - Camper_2012Explorersome people say 7.5 some people say 10 now I'm confused
- janstey58Explorer7.5 MPG, .5 less pulling the toad.
