A and E awning, left side won't release

That happens to me once in a while.(Left arm hangs up) I get it to release by smacking the RIGHT awning arm HARD with the palm of my hand.

Works for me................

Exactly what Johno02 stated. I had the same problem at one time in which the left side would not release. I even had to go up on the roof and push the arm with my foot to release it. It has since been adjusted and works fine.

As far as I know you cannot buy the canvas with the weather protector. All I ever found was Complete new awning. If anyone knows differently, I would appreciate knowing about it.

I've got the shielded, manual A&E awnings. I don't believe there's any difference in the mechanism. Each side has a release lever you have to pull down before it will role out. If not readily visable then looked for where it broke off.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts. I don't believe it has to do with the canvas. It appears to be rolling up straight. The problem is the bracket won't release.
Old Biscuit. I have climbed up there and nothing seems to be catching. I can't see anything even rubbing against it. It wiggels. Almost like the left side roller just doesn't release. Thats why I was wondering if the latch on the right also is supposed to release the roller on the left.
I will try as Johno02 suggested and see if theres someone around here who works on RV's.

Are you pulling down from center? Using strap.
Try it with 3 people. One on each arm.

GO up on a ladder and check what is hanging it up.
Top bracket.....then lift up on arms and see if it releases
Check for loose mounting bracket bolts top and bottom

Awning arm not aligned and jamming......then extend awning fully and see if fabric has shifted on roller. Fabric needs to be evenly spaced on roller or it will wind up crooked and jam (either closed or won't fully close). Measure from edge of fabric to end of roller and shift fabric so it's the same on both ends.
Then when you get it working correctly install a short fat screw right at the edge of fabric in roller grove to keep fabric from shifting again.

Rvten, it does it wherever I go anymore. It did seem easier to release before but know it's getting harder. At home it is on the street.
