That is why I posted articles from the local newspaper because I just want to point out how incredibly lucky you are to live in a place that only got 2" when the rest of the county got a lot more rain, including flooding. Obviously a miracle.

hmmm.. here in Pensacola (Blue Angel Country) we call your area eastern Florida.

As you can see it gets significantly more rain than the average for a city in the USA. From my experience of living here since the 40's, a lot of the storm fronts seem to cross the state in the upper half and the Spring Hill area, and The Villages get a pretty good share of the rain that falls in Florida. I remember when Spring Hill was first developed and that area is where we used to go hunting for bear and wild hogs. The hardest thing for most newcomers to get used to is the high humidity. That is why we have AC. :)

I live in the City of Seminole, which is just a few miles south of Clearwater. During the Tropical Storm Colin time frame, we received 9" of rain at our house, the Lake behind my house went over the seawall about 18". I also posted the link to where the City closed the Ft. Desota Park, as well as several others parks, because of the storm.

I guess you were just lucky that you only had 2" of rain. Perhaps you need to calibrate your rain gauge. If you read the article, Mariners Cove mobile home park in CLEARWATER was under 4 FEET of water and wind gusts on the CLOSED Sunshine Skyway Bridge, about 10 miles from you, were recorded at 52 MPH. The pictures in this article show rescuers in a boat in Largo, which is right next to Clearwater.

Not sure exactly where OP is but in Clearwater we got about 2 inches of rain with the "tropical storm" June 6th, wind never got over 20mph and I live 2 miles from the Gulf of Mexico. Actually we need more rain, my lawn is drying up. We are entering the summer rainy season, so thunder storms are possible at any time. If you don't mind 90 degree temps come on down. We had some drizzle in San Francisco area as well.
Happens every 20 years in June.
But flooding in Florida doesn't sound good.
