A/C units

I am a dedicated DIY'r who can't say "no" to a new problem and I also am not cheap, just stubborn. So here is what I would do:
1) Research air-conditioner function and patiently trouble-shoot as best you can
2) check the many online salvage places for used units:"http://colawrvsalvage.com/" or "http://azrvinc.com/" etc. for replacement of the rear unit if necessary. Pick their brains for alternatives. The A/C's are all basic hookups with similar installation as far as I can see.
3) recharge/repair of the front may be possible. Does the front unit have a recharge fitting? If not (most don't) find someone who can SILVER solder one in, pull a vacuum and recharge the unit. Or learn how to do it yourself. If you are like me, there is a certain satisfaction KNOWING I can screw something up and IT WON'T COST ME AN ARM and A LEG........LOL
Good luck. I apologize for not sending you some sanity. I sometimes run short of it myself in these situations.

and a refrigeration tech around here won't look at it without charging me for diagnostic and the repair will cost almost as much as a new one.

I am not ignoring advice. I only had one on at a time. there is a switch in the closet that says "front" "back" I can't run both at the same time unless I have the generator on. The one up front runs no cold air. the one in the back when you turn it on sounds like a shorted motor the breaker pops. I only had one on at a time. as per the motorhome's design.

For all those that say you can't run 2 ACs on 30 amp you don't know what you are talking about. With an energy management system it can be done. We had a Pace Arrow with 2 ACs and 30 amp and we could run both ACs at the same time. If you tried the microwave at the same time you would get an AC shut off. The EM would control how the ACs would start so they both did not attempt to start at the same time. We had that unit for about 5 years and did run both ACs regularly!!

You seem to be ignoring the advice offered.

YOU NEED 50AMP CURRENT TO RUN BOTH AIR CONDITIONERS ATTHE SAME TIME.

Try running one AC at a time.

How much are used ac units?? right now I need just one. The portable units I have are too loud and too hard to install.

I give up I just give up. I can't afford new units I had a soda fountain go on me and the refrigeration guy wanted 700 to fix and look at it. I can't afford it. I am tired of the fight. I quit.

Your rig is probably wired for 30 amp service so you can only run one A/C at a time. In my rig I have 2 thermostats one is in the hall and is for the furnace and front A/C. The other is in the bed room and is only for the bedroom A/C. So just try running 1 A/C at a time and see if one or both work but with 30 AMP only one at a time will work.

You'd have to find one awfully hungry tech to get him involved in anything like this because its a no win situation for him. He simply can't charge enough to make it worthwhile.

Both fan and compressor capacitors checked or replaced, as it can't start with a bad capacitor and a common occurance?
Any fans froze and giving it a spin will get it going? Then taking it apart and applying some lube might keep it going for a long time.
