Allied Insurance

Last Friday a jeep thought he could pull out 30 yards in front of me to make a left hand turn. I T-BONED his jeep, totaling it and destroying the front end of my coach.
I called my insurance company, Allied, and they have done an outstanding job so far in taking care of everything.
They towed my coach to a "preferred" repair center, and are handling the paperwork.
Apalachee RV Center is working on getting an estimate of cost and repair time.
I am very apprehensive about how long repairs will take and what will happen to my insurance rates even though the accident was not my fault.
I will keep you all informed of any updates

  • Hopefully the police were called and a citation was issued to the driver of the jeep. ( and they have insurance) If not, it can turn into a he said, she said thing. Although driver pulling out in front of you is a big hill to climb to blame it on you I would think.

Something you might consider the RV place they towed it to is not preferred because they do the best work ( which they may well, I would have no knowledge)

They are preferred because they have a contract with your INS company and keep the rates down. They may well do that by using after market and used parts.

If you are not at fault, you have the right at least in WA to insist they use new parts. If on the other hand you are determined to be at fault, even partially, then they can use after market stuff. As you insurance is paying the bill and it will be in the contract, they can do that.

At least in WA if you are not at fault it will not raise you rates. I believe this info is pretty much correct, although I acknowledge I could be off base
  • Read the tread starter... pulled out 30 yards in front of me to make a LH turn I T-Boned him..

IOW, hit him in the side. Was it avoidable or not we don't know. What we do know is what the OP stated and why I stated assured clear distance (because we don't know the speed, the conditions, if there was another lane available, basically none of the parameters leading up to the crash.

In this state, chances are you'd be cited for assured clear distance or failure to control (depending on mitigating circumstances of course)

    What I'm taking about bub...

Hopefully one, there was no PI and two if you didn't get cited for assured clear distance, consider yourself fortunate. Here in this state, you'd be ticketed for assured clear distance or failure to control. Jeeps and their occupants don't fare well in crashes as a rule.

Not sure what your even talking about

What is the "assured clear distance" to prevent someone from pulling out too closely in front of you?

  • I have nothing but good things to say about Allied / Nationwide. A few years back my local agent dropped them and I've been dealing ever since with the main office in Iowa and they have been outstanding. Very n ice folks to talk to, you can actually call and talk to an American person, most times a very friendly one too. No Asian call center foreign stuff with Allied / Nationwide.
  • Sorry about your accident. At least you are at one of the best RV repair centers anywhere.
