- pastorbillvExplorer IIForgot to mention - answering your question is an example of the benefit of RV shows. We did the best research we could but then literally looked at dozens of units when we bought both of our units (class C in 2004, cabover in 2016). Also, my personal experience is that you can't beat show pricing because the manufacturers assist the dealers (many of them very small). We got $6000 off the $45,000 Northern-Lite only because of N-L assistance to our small, local dealer.

Look for coaches that have the most head room throughout as that measurement will dictate how much room you find in the cabover. A lot of coaches only have 6 to 6.5' of head room and that really limits the space available for the cabover area.
While that's a good starting point, one should also take into consideration any step up from the cab area to the house area. A six inch step up coupled with a six inch lower headroom would produce the same cabover headroom.
Perhaps overall outside height would be the best simple measurement to use, though one should also take the shape of the cabover into account (and whether it's full height at the junction with the house box). - pastorbillvExplorer IIWe just got the Northern-Lite 10'2" a couple of months ago and they said that the cabover bunk headroom had been significantly increased. It is definitely a lot more than I remember older ones to have. I'm 6' tall, so have to use the full length of the bed. The ceiling significantly slants down over my head, but I've gotten used to it. Overall, the amount of headroom is spacious for a cabover. We don't try to watch TV in bed (not into prone TV watching!), so convert the table into the bed and use a couple of homemade wedges to sit and watch TV from the table area. I upgraded the 19" TV to a 32" and it works great. So, all the bed gets used for is day storage and sleeping.
Here's our model:

Our Nexus Phantom 23P as 7" of headroom throughout the coach which combined with the 101" of exterior width generates over 8" of cabover bunk length. They also installed screened windows on both sides and and vented hatch over the center. We don't often have guests up there but do enjoy using it for reading, watching TV or other "fun" stuff. :B - mgirardoExplorerOur Jayco Greyhawk has good headroom in the cab over bunk. I am 5'11" and I can sit up straight on the cab over bunk. We put a queen memory foam topper on the bunk and there is room around the topper on all sides. The cab over bunk is not quite as wide as a king bed, but it is longer than a king bed.
