Bigfoot Levelers: Auto vs Platinum

The Facts:
Our 2019 E-450 Ford chassis (Jayco brand Class C) has the brackets installed from the factory for the Bigfoot hydraulic levelers (Quadra Manufacturing).

The difference: Auto is one button and done leveling. The Platinum is level front to back, with you manually leveling side-side via the controller (my understanding after a call to Quadra today).

The price difference: Auto is about $3770 and the Platinum is on sale for $1988.

The Question:
Is it worth the price difference to go full auto or is the mostly manual leveling the way to go?

Your experiences with either?
  • Just from my personal experience with the Platinum system I installed on my 31' class C. I have not used their automatic system. With that said, I am extremely happy with the Platinum system at half the price. It's pre-programmed when you push 'start' it brings both front jacks down and lifts the front a fair amount, then it brings the rear jacks down and stops a few inches less than the front. On my particular RV this program actually levels my RV perfect in my driveway and I assume any close to flat surface. You can then manually adjust it from there if required. We have only been to two campgrounds since installing them (maybe 10-12 trips) that we needed additional adjustments. One State park was so off level that I couldn't do it with the jacks alone and had to do some blocking, but the auto system would not have changed that. Again, I have no experience with the auto system but personally would not spend the extra $$.
Plus, with the brackets already installed it's a breeze.

    Good Luck
  • I installed the full auto system on my RV.
I have never used the auto feature.

I installed the Premium Big Foot System on our previously owned E450 motor home. Great system, great company to work with and a good price while on sale. One of our more appreciated additions to that RV. With the brackets already in place on your Jayco, it should be a very straight forward installation.
  • I was in the same boat just months ago. I know enough people with auto systems that have to fine tune after the "auto" program runs or the auto simply does not work and they have to manually adjust anyway. I decided on the platinum for the following:

    1. cost savings was substantial (got it when they were running a large sale on platinum specifically)

    2. auto systems seem to need manual adjustments anyway

    3. weight savings - the auto system uses a pump for each jack, platinum uses one pump. Not much, but every little bit helps

That all being said you can't go wrong either way. Just my thought process when I made the decision. Love the system by the way!!
  • Great info, thanks. We pulled the trigger on the PLantinum system, on sale for $1988 right now. Considering we carried boards and lynx levelers for our TT, and did it truly manually before, I don't mind pushing a few buttons to get it level. And yes, we will carry a few wood blocks/boards "just in case".

Appreciate the good info you all provided on your experiences!
  • I drove from NW Arkansas to White Pigeon, MI to have my Platinum system installed. They did a great job and I have had excellent results leveling my Class C.
