- JohnnyTExplorer IIOK folks , I have pulled a few posts that were outside the scope of our G rating and others who were .. well... just insulting...
OK to express your views lets just keep them in the same tone one would use around a friendly campfire with mixed company and children..
Thanks
JohnnyT Moderator - DaveinetExplorerI'm from Chicago, didn't realize blowing the horn actually meant anything at all.
- Executive45Explorer IIIAnyone stay at the RV Park just outside Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico? The sign as you're leaving asks that you blow your horn to let the CG managers know you're leaving but had a great time....!!!...Dennis
- DutchmenSportExplorerIf you have ever been on a cruise ... I mean like a ship ... you know Carnival, Holand America, Royal Caribbean, .... when the ship is about to (disembark) leave dock, it always blasts it's horn. They usually blast a few minutes before disembarkation to warn everyone to get off the ship or get on the ship (depending). This is usually BEFORE leaving. Then right before it starts moving, it will blast it's horn again.
The idea of blowing you're horn when leaving (especially with RV's) comes from the nautical concept. There are hundreds of nautical concepts that we use with our RV's, terms and activities.
Unfortunately, if "they" are going to be true to the nautical experience, they should toot their horn before pulling out of their campsite and then quit. To blast the horn all the way through the campground and even continue on the road is absolutely stupid and not true to the original concept. But them, others are just self-centered jerks, who get a kick out of 'tooting their own horn!' Sorry, couldn't resist tossing that in there! - PogoilExplorerWish mine were train horns.
Pogoil. - bluwtr49Explorer IIYep. giving a toot on an air horm when leaving should be considered the proper thing to do. If someone is watching birds and the bird is unhappy, let the bird post a comment.
- bsinmichExplorerI expect to hear a lot of horns next week. I will be at a Wanderlodge group i Franienmuth, MI. and they have promised they will play their musical horns. Our 6YO Grandson enjoys theirs. They have a 1982 Bird. We are known as SOBs there which means Some Other Brand.
- down_homeExplorer IIWe don't as a practice but on a couple of occasions bunch of Kids on bikes did the pull the horn thing and we responded. Don't leave early so won't wake anyone.

Maybe, just maybe he was saying goodbye to some camping friends/family
Maybe, just maybe he was tooting cause the little kid standing there was giving the 'toot your horn' gesture
Maybe, just maybe he was giving a 'thank-you' to someone that helped him
Maybe, just maybe it didn't have anything to do with you

Air horns. Just another toy on a DP. They have to play with.
Hear it a lot.
WOW!!!!!!
In 4.5 years of having our rig we have not met many folks in the various CG's we have visited.
Most seem to stay in their rigs except to walk the dogs and go to the showers. They like it quiet and peaceful in there I guess.
First time out with our rig, we stayed in the Keys where lot's of snowbirds stay for extended vacations. Seemed like each gave an adios blow heading out to tackle the 7 mile bridge.
Lot's of DP envy out there apparently. But this one takes the cake!
Why are there so many non-class A owners commenting on the Class A site?
