Carefree of Colorado awnings

Can someone tell me how to determine what model of Carefree of Colorado awnings I have? I just bought my "new to me" '04 HR Vacationer 36WDD and the awning was known to need work as the springs are suspected to be broken. However, a model number is necessary to order parts. I am assuming that they are original pieces but the owner's manuals and maintenance records give me no clue only how to operate and extend them. Neither does the Carefree website offer any help to focus on the identity. I may replace the whole unit as the fabric is torn but for now I am intending to patch it and enjoy it for awhile unless the cost is prohibitively high for the springs.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
  • Thanks for all that good advice! I did find the tag with the serial number on the inside of the bottom of the front arm. I will contact Carefree to see if I can get the part numbers. The dealer I purchased my MH from said they had the part in stock but in my haste to get the deal done and leave, I didn't get it before leaving as it was getting late that day. I have since learned that there is a spring on each end not just one so I would have needed to get the second one anyway.

I have a 2007 with carefree awnings and I found the numbers on a tag attached to the awning fabric like a tee shirt tag but those were faded but you might get lucky. Also the numbers are on a tag attached to the metal roller on the awning, these I used to get the replacement fabric direct from Carefree. You will need to unroll against the spring to expose the roller on one end you should see a tag get the serial number and the model number and any other number there, all that said I think Carefree used the serial number to pull the part.
I also used the carefree web site to get to some of the manuals so I could properly reinstall new fabric and how many turns.
Carefree customer support was very helpful.

  • If you email Monaco with your coach number, they will email you a build sheet with all of your coach information and model numbers.
  • I found several different documents for my CareLess awning and toppers. Perhaps you need to search deeper on the CareLess web site.

As far as awning replacement theirs is cra* but should last for a short period of time. Otherwise consider a better quality canvas AND thread.

And don't be surprised if CareLess doesn't have the replacement parts you need.
  • looking at the trailer the right arm the one towards the front of the trailer is a label on the inside of the arm.

and keep in mind that awning is probably discontinued so ebay will be your friend send me a pmi can help you find the parts
