- MagillaGorillaExplorerWE pulled the trigger and bought the HR today. My wife loved the layout and bedroom. it is a 2005 Admiral 37 PCT. When I drove it, it had MUCH more power than my current 1993 Damon with a 460 Ford V8. Although I liked the 2006 Damon, after looking at the HR I felt like we would be settling if we bought the Damon.
22.5 aluminum wheels vrs 19.5 steel wheels with covers
bigger brakes on the HR plus they have electronic assist that made them lighter to step on.
aluminum siding vrs laminated sides
Winter heated water tanks with secondary ceramic heaters on thermostats
Aluminum roof vrs rubber roof
Adjustable backup camera vrs stationary
Convection microwave vrs regular microwave
soft touch vinyl interior roof
metal faucets vrs plastic
better fit and finish
Power leather drivers seat vrs manual cloth seat
Then to top it all off the HR is awesome looking. It looks soooooooo nice.
In the end it was a few more grand but I justify it by believing that the higher quality items will last longer. Now I just have to wait for the dealer to prep it so we can take delivery.
WE CANT WAIT. - GjacExplorer III

That's what I was thinking. If you really like the HR over the Daybreak I would use this as part of the buying process and get a 2006 or newer HR. If your pros and cons balance I would lean toward the Daybreak. To me the 3 most important things are storage, water, and HP to Wt ratio, but everyone has different requirements.
The HR is a 310hp Ford mated to a 4 speed auto with overdrive - topflite51ExplorerIf the Damon is 362 HP and 5 sp that is the one I would be looking at. The fact that 90% of your trips are less than 100 miles would not enter the equation. It's how steep are the mountains in the other 10% that would be in the equation. I think in the long run, the more HP the happier the driver is. :b
- MagillaGorillaExplorerAlso for what tis worth 90% of the trips we take are less than 100 miles away.

I suspect the difference in wheel size would indicate the HR is a Workhorse chassis and the Damon is a Ford.
IMO that would be another reason to pick the HR. Make sure the recall on the Bosch brake calipers has been done.
If it were a Workhorse Chassis, just how did a Ford V10 get in it? - topflite51ExplorerIt is entirely possible that neither MH has the 362 HP and the 5 sp auto, if that is the case I would keep looking. Obtain the VIN codes and check with Ford.

If both are Fords check to see if the 2005 has the same 362HP and 5 speed transmission. I think that Ford made the latest improvements in 2006. The V-10 slowly evolved from 275 HP to 362 HP and the latest transmission by 2006. I found no chassis improvement after 2006.Gjac wrote:
I think another big pro for the HR is that it has a hung wall which can't delamiate like a vacuum bonded or pinched rolled wall. What chassis is on each MH?
Both coaches are Ford V10 chassis. The Damon is a chassis with 19.5 wheels and the HR is a chassis with 22.5 wheels. I am told the bigger chassis was a $5500 option in its day. I don't know or care if its true but I do like the bigger wheels with the solid aluminum rims
