DISAPPOINTED in Liquid Nail Product

RE: Liquid Nails Adhesive, Professional Heavy Duty Construction Adhesive.

I've attached 3 photos that show the condition of the motorhome steps and one photo of the Liquid Nails Product I used. The product parameters clearly state interior/exterior, and water/weather resistant. That has not been the case with it's use in this project. The carpet has been adhered to the steps since November 6th. When it's dry, the product is hard. Wetness softens and I'm getting the drip you see in the photos. The steps have gotten to the condition you are now viewing several times; cleaning was necessary each time. Would certainly appreciate your comments if you've used this product.
  • What is wrong with the ones Camping World sells? They are not glued on and work good!
  • There's a BIG difference between water resistant and water proof. Where you used it a water proof adhesive was needed.
  • I have used Liquid Nails enough to know it will not work in that application.

News to me that Liquid Nails could be used on metal.
We have read and re-read the instructions for use that are on the can and they do not exclude metal.

Liquid nails was not designed to be used on metal products. Does the can say that it is compatible with metal (i.e. includes metal versus it is silent on metal, a huge difference)? Also liquid nails is weather resistant not water proof. Your outdoor application would require a product that is water proof.
  • A clear silicone caulk would be a better choice.. Use the exterior version such as DAP Window & Door 100% Silicone Rubber Sealant.
  • Call the company. It is amazing how many tube glues are available. Many have specific uses. I found this out when installing imitation marble on a metal gas fireplace insert. Could not find one that was heat resistant. Called the company and since the particular glue was not carried by anyone locally they sent me a free tube...yes free. " marble " has been installed for 8 years and as good as new. I agree this was the wrong glue for this job.
  • I sent an email to Liquid Nails at liquidnails@ppg.com immediately before posting to this forum. It's been well over two days with no response! Another company who doesn't know how to answer emails in a timely fashion; not really surprised!
  • Yeah, that is really frustrating. I have the same problem with a different company right now, web site says we promptly answer e-mail questions...been a week now, no response. Companies are so good at hiding their phone contact info these days, tell you to e-mail, then don't respond. I suggest a google search for their phone number, maybe they will answer?
