Dometic Sealand vacuum toilet

We have purchased a 2016 Bounder 35k with the bath and a half. We also have the Dometic/Sealand vacuum toilet system which makes such a racket that it can be heard (when recharging) no less than 100 feet away. When we get new neighbors and have to use the leu, boy the looks our rig gets.......... We have been told "this is normal in some MHs, is this right?, I do not hear anyone else's. Suggestions????? Thoughts?????? It works fine, just so darned LOUD.
  • I usually knock on side of rig and ask neighbor "Everything OK?"

Just like when using facilities on an airplane.....everybody hears!

YES the RV vacuum toilet system can be noisy.

Step on the pedal no noise

If your new RV with new toilet is too noisy... Replace the toilet
    No noise... No curious neighbors
Is it really the toilet, or some transport system that moves the contents to the holding tank

The Dometic 310 is a gravity flush model, designed to sit over the holding tank.

He is hearing the vacuum pump in the transport system that breaks up the waste and transports it to the remotely located (for that toilet) holding tank.

We had a similar one on a houseboat, and you did not want to flush when anyone was sleeping. :)

  • We have one in ours and it was our very first experience with a vacuum flush in an rv. We were so concerned I had to call the manufacturer and was told the same as you. Once we got used to it we never thought about it anymore. It worked great. We turn it off during normal sleeping hours so we don't wake the neighbors.

  • Had one in the last coach and have one in this coach. I think this one is quieter but the other wasn't very loud.
  • I can hear ours from outside, but I never thought of it as that loud. Might depend on how many compartment/panels the sound needs to go through to get out.
  • If you are parked beside ours...you would hear the same thing. Don't worry about it, it's a natural bodily function.
