- whizbangExplorer III've bought and sold cars and RV's on Craigslist. I've never had a problem.
If you happen to get a nut case, forget about it, hang up, delete, and ignore.
There are plenty of good honest people out there who want what you are selling...
Good luck. - DuctapeExplorerThere are lots of kooks shopping CL, and scammers too. I have a Google phone number and a separate email for such things.
- docsouceExplorer III use Craigslist all the time. Seems like a lot of people wanting to waste my time, but I have had very good luck. My method of dealing with them is to tell them to call me on my phone for more information then email them my phone number. That usually eliminates the jerks, and saves time trying to email all this info. Seems like no matter what you write they always find something they want you to address. You want info...Call me and we'll talk. Also if someone wants to come over and check things out. I tell them to meet me at a nearby business then drive to my house. If they show, which most don't, it gives me a chance to talk to them before taking them to my house or where ever the item I'm selling is located.
- guidryExplorer III've sold two RV's and a truck on Craigslist, never had any problems. Lots of pictures and description and ask for only serious buyers. Then, when they call I answer their questions and ask a few of my own. You will get a sense of if they are current RV'rs or not. If not, then a few more questions can weed out any lookieloos. Criminals don't usually respond to RV adds, they typically stick to cars or small items they can run off with (cell phones, jewelry).
- BumpyroadExplorerwhen I used to advertise my RV stuff in local papers, I could always count on one dealer from WVA responding offering to sell it. I did put my Bounder on consignment there and they sold it.
bumpy - fitznjExplorerI sold my TT on Craiglist last year; No issues and a pleasant experience.
I buy cars/motorcycles/boats/bicycles/kayaks etc on craiglist - only had one "odd" experience and probably 20 positive.
You can usually tell by the first email/text/phone call what you are dealing with. It's pretty easy to weed out the good guys from the bad;
Last year I was trying to buy a car and suggested we meet at a Home Depot lot or the Police station - the seller did not comply and insisted on meeting at his place - I did not follow through.
Yeah - you're going to meet some "interesting" people but it's no different to the old days when we hunted the newspaper classifieds.
Just let your gut guide you. - ronfishermanModeratorI used RVTRADER.com to sell my MH last May. Buyers requested through email for more information. Sent out 3 replies. First to respond and talk to me bought it. Took total of 5 days to complete sale. Priced it using NADA pricing. Sold for just about average pricing.
Do not get sucked into using RVT.com. - rockhillmanorExplorer IIYou will get a ton of lookie loos taking up all of your time. Not to mention the criminals coming out to scope out your property under the pretense of buying your RV.
I will NOT ever advertise my Rv's on craiglist.
IMHO, JMHO the BEST place to advertise Rv's and RV equipment is thru the well known and respected Escapees Full Time Club for RV'ers.
First of all you will sell your RV in record time listing it on an RV forum.
AND you will only get real "RV'ers" calling you.
It was the best thing I have found. Sold my toad in one day, sold the TT in two days and by the third day I had all my towing equipment sold.
What a pleasure it was responding to fellow RV'ers instead of idiots, scammers, criminals and idiots from craigslist.
You do NOT have to join the actual Escapees Club to use their forum classified. Just join the forum for free. Here is the link:

RV MARKET PLACE - PartyOf_FiveExplorerIt takes all types to make Craigslist go'round...
*Read up on safety, be prepared for no shows, abd make the unit as perfect as reasonable so there's nothing for them to latch onto and lower the price.
I like to fill ads with all the info I can, to weed out dumb questions when they call and ensure in only dealing with people who are serious.
