Is a smiling truck camper owner allowed to join?
If your self contained. IE fresh water, waste tanks, cook, sleep, poop, bathe. Then yes, come join us please. If the FMCA will allow my 22 year old entry level Bounder, then they will allow most any thing. GRIN
OH! And thanks for the smile. It's your positive attitude that I want to see in the FMCA.

At this point, anything that can be considered a "recreation vehicle" can join. If you have a boat, bicycle, motorcycle, seadoo, etc, you are eligible for membership. There is nothing and I mean NOTHINGwithin the newly approved documents that defines what a "recreation vehicle" is. The wording that is in the magazine about self contained, sleeping facilities, etc do not appear anywhere in the the documents. It is only some smoke screen until July when the wording can be put into the bylaws. The powers to be were in such a hurry to cram this down our throats, they forgot a very important step. The governing board has the authority to change the bylaws and that is what will happen. Until July, go ahead and join with your boat. If FMCA doesn't let you join, there is a lawsuit in the wings waiting.
Now, here is a little known fact:
The now past president was holding an area rally when a towable showed up. He went over and tild him he was not welcome and to leave. The treasurer refunded the rally fee. This is the same person that who had the brilliant idea to bring in "recreation vehicles"
OK, seeing how you have the document in hand. Please post the wording so all can see it. Other wise what you post is just rhetoric.
Also the FMCA President does not hold an area rally. That is organised by the area.

Open up your magazine (page 46 on the November edition) and read all of the documents that were voted on. You will see no such wording that defines what a "recreation vehicle" is defined as. The only definition that was "agreed" to is that " The term "recreation vehicle" as used herein, is defined as a self contained wheeled vehicle that includes permanently installed cooking, sleeping, and sanitary facilities". This agreement was not made in a formal meeting (ie the Governing Board meeting) and the entire governing board was not present when this discussion took place.
If you still question the validity of the definition, please call FMCA at 513-474-3622 and ask for Membership Services. Request a copy of the Governing Board minutes and read them. Anytime a motion as so stated, is made, it is recorded and the proposer of the motion is also noted. You will find no such motion in the minutes.
The Governing Board will rectify the problem with the definition at our meeting in July. Someone will stand up and make a motion to do whatever with the agreed definition. It will wind up either in the bylaws or in a Policy & Procedure, could be both.
Now to the area rally. Area rallys are done by an area who has a Area President. That person is in charge of the area and is the same person that sits on the executive board and their title there is Area Vice President. When the past national president was area president, that is when he asked the towable to leave. I said "the now past president" held a rally.
You might want to talk to Jerry and see if he was in attendance in Indy.
