Ford Questions

Just acquired a 2014 31' Newmar. How do I remove the hub caps on 19.5 tires? How does the "Tow Mode" function. Haven't got the books. Thanks in advance for assistance.

  • On a 2014 the tow/haul button will change the way the transmission shifts, but will let it go into overdrive. Its very usefull in hilly driving as when you tap the brakes on a downhill run it will downshift. The earlier fords had an overdrive button that locked out overdrive. If the hubcaps are the stainless ones with fake lug nuts two of the nuts have dimples on them. These two can be unscrewed and the hubcap will come off.

Depends on the type wheel, but if the caps look like chrome lug nuts (about 8 of them) there will be two that hold the hubcap on. Look carefully to determine which is fake and which holds the caps on. Somewhere in your rig, there is likely a T handle tool with a socket fits these "nuts". Carefully loosen the two 'real' nuts and the cap should come off. Good news is these two are 180 degrees from each other.
  • Don't know about hub caps but tow mode just keeps it out of over drive and decreases fuel mileage.
