Ford V-10 Sparkplugs

I own a 2013 Georgetown Class A. It has a Ford V-10 engine. I was informed by a friend who has the same engine that he had a sparkplug problem. Apparently, the plugs sit in helicoil that is set in to head and the plugs are threaded into this. Anyway, he said that his ( a 2001 V-10) plugs were not torqued and they eventually loosened to the point that they blew out of the head. He had to have the hole rethreaded and new helicoil installed. My question: In the newer V-10's like mine 2013 is or was this problem resolved by torqueing the plugs or whatever? Anybody have any experience with this issue?

    x2
company i used to work for had e350 cargo vans with the v-10 earlier models had the problem. happened to one of ours.
  • Purchased a 1999 Winn with the Ford V-10. Blew a plug out in Twin Falls,ID. Mechanic said the early V-10 & V-8 engines with Aluminum Heads had this problem. Also told me that 2 other plugs had been repaired prior to my ownership. I'm told the only fix is the replace the heads. Been looking at Banks products, but haven't bought yet. Probably only a matter of time and miles before the 4th one pops out.
  • Don is correct, in fact your engine is quite different.
    Your's has three-valve, the 2001 had two.
    Your's has an improved crank
    Your's has improved exhaust.
