Gluing windows

I know I have asked a lot of questions sense I bought mt 1989 Southwind. Hope I do not wear out my welcome. Opening the back louvre window they fell out of there of their aluminum holders. Luckily there arms attached to the glass too. Now I need to glue them back in place. I believe plain silicone adhesive wouldn't be strong enough and epoxy might not take the expansion difference between glass and aluminum. Does anyone have an idea on what to use?

Thank

Buster

  • It took me a hour to scrape the old adhesive off. It looked to be clear and hard and the top of the glass looked as what I would say was rubber cement. I know they didn't use rubber cement, but the rig is 25 years old. I would say it was not a silicone adhesive. I would use 3M 5200 but it is white. If they used 5200 in black I would us it. If it was something else, do you know what it maybe? Thanks for the reply.
  • I thought they originally were held with a thin gasket like material in the slot.
